Chapter 9

Lydia and I had been planning on going shopping for the winter formal, but Allison had called us up last minute to go on some errand beforehand. What I hadn't expected was for that errand to be in the woods, and to say that Lydia and I weren't dressed for the occasion would be an understatement. I, at least, had on durable boots, but my shorts left me exposed to the elements and were beginning to become a real pain in my ass.

Lydia was a whole different story.

Lydia had on a cute dress and a coat which protected her from the cold, but she stumbled around like a new born deer in her heels. She panted as she tried to catch up with Allison who was trudging around like she owned the place and grabbed my arm to steady herself.

This was also very nerve wracking for me, seeing as it was the first time I'd seen Allison since her ex-boyfriend decided to have a go at me. I was sure she was none too pleased and could only hope she didn't bring it up.

"Allison, when you said we were going on an errand before shopping... a hike in the woods? Not what I was expecting." Lydia got out between breaths, announcing what both of us were thinking.

Lydia let go of my arm so I could jump over a small stream and I turned around to help her over as well. Once she was safely on the other side, I turned back around to Allison who hadn't stopped for us at all. My patience was clearly being tested and I was losing my grip by the second. I seriously didn't mind walking around in the woods, but, when you had to follow a rampaging Allison while doing so, it completely destroyed any sense of peacefulness the hike would have otherwise granted me.

Not only was Allison leading us into the woods, but she was doing so with a bag that had something sticking out of it that suspiciously looked like a bow. As in, werewolf huntress dangerous weapon bow.

"It's not that I don't like going on hike's or anything, but what are we doing out here Allison?" I asked while trying to keep up. I really didn't want to get lost in the middle of the woods where I could get attacked by, oh, I don't know, a crazy psycho Alpha werewolf?

Allison didn't answer me and instead addressed Lydia. "Before I forget Lydia, I need to ask you something. Jackson asked me to the winter formal."

"Did he?" Lydia asked, her voice raising innocently.

I watched Lydia nervously. She had told me all about the "girl code", and I distinctly remember there being a section on not being friendly with the ex. And Allison was implying she was being exactly that.

I watched as Allison nodded but still faced away from us, staying on the path to who knows where. "Just as friends, but I wanted to make sure that you're okay with it first."

"Sure!" Lydia said, fake enthusiasm leaking from her voice. "As long as it's just friends."

"Well, yeah, I mean," Allison laughed. "It's not like I'd take him into the Coach's office during lacrosse practice and make out with him or anything."

I looked up sharply from my feet and stopped walking. Lydia continued for a few steps before she realized I was no longer with them and turned back to me. Both she and Allison stood there and Allison turned around, a smug look on her face. Tears came to my eyes as I saw how angry she was and I sniffled trying to keep it in.

"I―I didn't... I didn't want that to happen." I said frantically wiping the tears from my face, but they just kept coming. "I―I don't know why I'm crying. You... you should be the one crying, right?"

I watched as Allison glanced at Lydia questioningly and Lydia sighed. "She didn't make out with him in Coach's office. He kissed her."

"What?" Allison asked as she glanced at me then back to Lydia.
