Chapter 4
Lydia hitched a ride with Jackson the next day, so I had to call Allison to pick me up. During class, I wrote down everything I could. It wasn't that I didn't know anything, but I didn't want to be that person. I wanted to keep the whole amnesiac thing under wraps and the best way to do that was to make sure I knew what everyone else did in class and then some.
It wasn't until the end of school that I saw Allison again; I had seen Lydia and Stiles in some of my classes, and Allison and I shared Economics, but I didn't get a chance to talk to her and because I volunteered to help one of my teachers grade papers during lunch, I missed out on getting to sit with everyone. I spotted her and Lydia talking in the hallway and made my way over, pulling up the sleeves of my tan sweater as I went.
"Scott's coming over?" Lydia asked, giving me a smile as I stopped at her side.
"Tonight? We're just studying together." Allison said, smiling in embarrassment. I studied her mannerisms, wondering what could be so wrong with that.
"Just studying never ends with just studying. It's like... getting into a hot tub." Lydia said before shrugging. "Somebody eventually cops a feel."
My eyes widened. Note to self, never study with someone-ever.
"Well, so what are you saying?" Allison asked.
Lydia tilted her head. "I'm just saying, you know... make sure he covers up." Both Allison and I gave her confused faces. "Hello! Snow White one and two. I'm saying to do it with a condom."
I decided not to ask her what that was. At this point, if something came out of Lydia's mouth that I didn't know about, I probably didn't want to know about it. "Hey, Allison? Do you have Stiles number by any chance?"
She nodded and took out her phone, "Yeah here."
I opened it up, blocking out the conversation before me as I went through her contacts. I found Stiles name and hit call. He answered on the third ring. "Allison?"
I smiled. "Hey, sorry it's Phoebe, do you think you could give me a ride home? Allison and Lydia are busy this afternoon."
"Yeah sure." He said. "I'll meet you at the front of the school."
We said our goodbyes and hung up. I gave the phone back to Allison. "Thanks."
She nodded and returned to Lydia. "Then I met him and... everything was different. I don't know, I can't explain it."
A few minutes later I was waving to them both, patting their shoulders as Sheriff Stilinski had done to me numerous times, and leaving for the front of the school. The bell rang just as I got out the doors and I moved to the side so I wouldn't get trampled by any of the other students. I could not afford to break one of these heels. Lydia had told me the lace-up black booties were over a hundred dollars and I was so not going to deal with a Lydia-fit if something happened to them.
I stood patiently at the front of the school, waiting for Stiles to show up. I screamed when a hand fell on my shoulder and turned around swiftly, ready to throw a fist. I dropped it when I found Stiles standing behind me with a huge grin on his face. "Scared?"
I scoffed. "No."
He laughed and led me to his car where we both hopped in, throwing our bags in the backseat. I liked Stiles car. It was old looking and a little rusty around the edges, but it was a nice shade of blue and was strangely comfortable to me. As Stiles pulled out, I went through the stations on his radio until I found one I liked and let it play softly. Just as I looked up, Stiles slammed on the breaks, reaching his arm out to stop me from lurching forward. "Oh my God." A man stood in front of the car, his hand held out, telling us to stop. Cars honked behind us as he wobbled on his feet before collapsing to the ground. "You've got to be kidding me, this guy is everywhere."
