Chapter 15
"...is that even a language?" Was the first thing I heard as I came back to consciousness.
"How are we supposed to figure out what this thing is?" Scott voice responded and I groaned, opening my eyes.
My head pounded as I sat up in the backseat of the Scott's car and looked around, finding the boys outside using a laptop resting on the back of the car. I snapped my head the other way as another voice spoke.
"It's called the kanima."
I got out of the car, holding my aching head as I addressed Derek. "You knew the whole time?"
"No," He sighed. "Only when it was confused by its own reflection."
I looked between him and Erica, then behind me to Stiles and Scott. "When did that happen? How much did I miss?"
"A lot, actually." Scott said. "But that's not the point. It didn't know what it was."
"Or who." Derek added.
Stiles crossed his arms and I moved to lean on the car. "What else do you know?" He asked.
"Just stories. Rumors."
"But it's like us?" Scott asked desperately.
"A shape-shifter, yes." Derek said. "But it's―it's not right. It's like a..."
"Abomination." I said, shaking my head sadly. There was something about it, something that had nothing to do with its murderous habits. It saved my life and something about that―it caused me to connect to it in a way. I could just feel it, like a cord attached to my soul. Whatever or whoever it was, I could feel its presence...even now.
Derek and Erica moved to walk away, but Scott stopped them. "Derek." The two turned. "We need to work together on this. Maybe even tell the Argents."
"You trust them?" Derek snapped.
"Nobody trusts anyone. That's the problem. While we're here arguing about who's on what side, there's something scarier, stronger, and faster than any of us and it's killing people!" Scott responded heatedly, causing me to move forward and rest a hand on his shoulder to calm him down. "And we still don't know anything about it!"
"I know one thing," Derek said, turning around with a stone cold face. "When I find it...I'm gunna kill it."
As I went to sleep that night, Lydia snuggled to one of my arms and the window cracked slightly to let in fresh air, I got a strange feeling. It travel down my throat and across by skin, causing goosebumps to rise. The sensation vanished as quickly as it had come, but I couldn't help feeling it was something more.
I turned my head towards the window, watching as the clouds drifted over the moon and across the sky. I sighed and turned away from the window, curling into Lydia's side and closing my eyes as I drifted.
That night I slept with a heavy mind.

Isaac was back in school. Apparently, Jackson had changed his statement early this morning, telling the Sheriff that he didn't hear fighting between Isaac and his dad before the murder. It was strange; I knew something must have happened to cause Jackson to change his statement.
"Alright, I only found one thing online called a kanima. It's a were-jaguar from South America that goes after murderers." Stiles explained as we walked out of class.
