Madelyn
"Are you excited?" Pattie asked me as she started making breakfast. Pattie came over early to Justin's apartment to clean up before he was discharged this afternoon. Hannah, Bevin, myself and, of course, Whitney had already cleaned up the apartment last night; but Pattie insisted on coming by and cleaning it again.
I was helping her cut up fruit for the pancakes and in a little while, she was going to pick up Justin. We were making his favorite breakfast and I was so happy he was coming home today.
"Yeah, I'm very excited for Justin to come home. I've missed him very much." I said while cutting up some strawberries and setting them aside in a bowl. Pattie was flipping the pancakes and adding more ingredients to the mix.
"He's missed you too Maddie. He talked about you almost every day since the day you left. He never gave up hope." I smiled and continued cutting the fruit.
"I'm happy he didn't give up on me or else coming back to him would've been a lot harder," I said truthfully.
I heard footsteps on the wooden floor and turned my back around only to see Whitney walking in the kitchen. "Good morning Pattie! Mhmm, something smells delicious!" Pattie smiled at her and I rolled my eyes, continuing to cut some pineapple.
"Thanks, sweetie! Did you girls finish cleaning that closet? The amount of dust was unbelievable!" I laughed and Whitney sat down at the island.
"Pattie, what time are you going to pick up Justin?" Whitney asked and stole one of the berries from the bowl in front of me. Pattie looked back at the clock behind her and then back at Whitney.
"I am probably going to leave here in the next few minutes."
"Can I go with?" I stopped cutting the fruits and looked up at her. Is she serious right now? The last thing Justin and I need right now is another Ava.
"I don't think so Whitney, I think Madelyn and I need to go get him alone. I smiled widely and smirked at Whitney. She shot me a fake smile and got off the chair. Whitney walked down the hall and disappeared behind Justin's bedroom door.
"What's up with her anyway?" I asked as I finished cutting up the rest of the fruit and putting them in the bowl with the others.
"Well I guess she has had a rough couple of years and Justin was there when no one else was, but she's kind of odd."
I left the conversation as that and ten minutes later Pattie and I were on our way to the hospital to discharge Justin. Pattie went to get him and I wanted to wait in the waiting room until they had everything settled. It took about fifteen minutes for whatever reason but soon enough I saw Justin and Pattie walking out of the wing he was in; Justin had the biggest smile on his face and so did Pattie. It warmed my heart to see him so happy.
Justin looked my way and we locked eyes, I stood up from my chair slowly and he walked over to me. Justin wrapped his arms around my waist and lifted me off the ground. I let out a soft squeal and wrapped my legs around his waist.
"You're pretty strong for someone who was in a car accident last week." I joked and kissed his cheek. Justin laughed and set my back on the ground, he laced his fingers with mine and Pattie meet up with us. We all walked out the front doors together and to Pattie's car.
The drive back to Justin's was nice. We caught up on the way back. Justin had told me he's almost finished with his last year of college. I really just wanted it to be just the two of us tonight. I just wanted to talk to him and get close to him again. We had so much to work on and even though Justin never really never cheated on me, that doesn't mean we didn't have issues within our relationship.
