The Vehement [ON HOLD]

~Chapter 3~

An hour and a half later...

"How may I help you today sir?" A nurse asked Peggy and Daniel.

"Agent Sousa and Carter with the SSR, we need to know how Jack Thompson is doing." Daniel replied.

"Oh! Yes, we've been expecting you," The nurse went behind a desk and pulled out a clipboard. "He is out of surgery. He will be fine. We just recommend no action for the next 3 weeks."

"Is he well enough to travel?" Peggy asked.

"Yes, just like I said, no major movement." She replied with a smile.

"When can he be released?" Daniel inquired.

"We'd like to watch him over night so tomorrow he can leave. He didn't sustain too much damage."

"Thanks again," Peggy says as she and Daniel start walking away.

"If you'll excuse me," Peggy said stopping at the phone booth. "I need to make a quick phone call."

"Sure," Daniel nodded. "I'll, uh, wait outside."

Peggy smiled and picked up the phone. She dialed a special number and awaited an answer.

"Ah, Mr Jarvis," Peggy smiled as he answered the phone.

"Miss Carter?" He said. "To what do I owe the pleasure?"

"Well, it seems that I'll be staying in LA for another day." Peggy explained. "And I was hoping-"

"Oh, delightful!" He interrupted. "You need a place to stay? Come and stay with us!"

"Thank you Mister Jarvis," Peggy smiled at his random childish behavior.

"My pleasure. Do you need a ride?" Mr Jarvis suddenly asked.

"Uh no," Peggy looked out the hospital doors to see Daniel waiting for her. "I think I have a ride."

"Oh, well then, I'll see you shortly."

Peggy chuckled. "Goodbye, Mr Jarvis."

She hung up the phone and walked out of the hospital. Daniel opened the door for her and she smiled as she got in.

Daniel got in his seat and questioned, "Are you going to stay for the time being?"

"Yes," Peggy nodded slipping her sunglasses over her squinted eyes. "I'll leave tomorrow as it turns out."

Daniel nodded. Deep inside, he really wished she would stay. He did have a little hope, for she didn't necessarily say she was staying in New York. "Need a place to stay?"

"I have one actually. I'll be staying with The Jarvis' and Mr Stark."

Daniel switched directions and headed to the Stark residence. "Thank you," Peggy said.

"What for?" Daniel asked looking at the Agent for a spilt second before returning his face to the road.

"Well, I was going to say for giving me a ride but now I feel I should say more," Peggy answered almost laughing.

Daniel laughed. "Not a problem." He pulled up into the circle drive of the Stark residence. "Well, I have to get back to the office before they fire Mr Auerbach."

Peggy chuckled as she excited the car. "Well... Until next time."

Peggy put her hand through the window for him to shake. He took it gladly, "Until next time."

Peggy grabbed her luggage and ring the door bell. Where a very enthusiastic Mr Jarvis opened immediately.

"Hello," he greeted.

"Hello, Mr Jarvis," She chuckled.
