The Vehement [ON HOLD]

~Chapter 17~

"Take Frost and Underwood to the SSR. I'm taking Agent Carter to the hospital," Daniel frantically told the agent closest to him. He was trying really hard to keep his cool. Really hard.

Rose was up front ready to drive wherever needed. "Where to, Chief?"

Daniel climbed in the backseat to keep three unconscious agent from falling over. "Hospital."

"Daniel?"

"Yes? I'm right here..."

"I-I... I can't feel my shoulder or my arm... Why?"

"You were shot twice. We are headed to the hospital."

"No!"

"Peggy-"

"I don't want to go to the hospital."

"I'm not gonna let you sit here until you need an amputation."

Peggy laid her head upon Daniel's shoulder. "Please..." Tears started to roll down her face. "Don't take me to the hospital. I hate hospitals."

Daniel took a deep breath. "We have to."

"Daniel..."

"Shh."

"No... Daniel, I'm scared."

"Why? You've been shot before."

"I love you, Daniel." Peggy's head still rested upon his shoulder but neither of them minded. "And I'm scared."

"Why is that scary?"

"Because... Everyone around me is killed. Or hurt in some way... It's a miracle that Mr Jarvis, Stark, Angie and you are okay."

Peggy could tell by his breathing that he didn't know what to say. And that sprung new tears. She scolded herself for being so emotional in front of somebody. But it was just Daniel. Peggy felt Daniel rest his head upon hers, "I love you, too."

Rose sat up front ignoring whatever conversation was going on. Daniel had a sliver of hope swell in his chest. He didn't know what she thought was going on and she was unconscious. This could all be a dream... But again, it didn't have to be.

"Hello?"

"Miss Carter..."

"Who are you? Where am I?"

"You're in the hospital. I'm am Dr Culpepper."

"Why am I in the hospital?"

"You were shot two times. One in the shoulder and one through your arm."

"Where's Daniel?"

"Pardon?"

"Daniel. Daniel Sousa. He said he was bringing me here."

"Oh. I'll go get him."

Daniel walked into the SSR. Rose stayed with Peggy while he was gone. He didn't want to be away but he had to check on a few things.

Frost was in her holding cell, mumbling incoherent words to herself. Dottie was in her cell, laying on her back and looking at the ceiling.
"Underwood," Daniel said, catching her attention.

Pleased by the company, Dottie sat up and crossed her legs in front of her. "Hello, Chief." She said with that smile that just annoyed Daniel. "How's Peggy?"

"I'm going to ask you a question, and I want you to answer to the best of your ability."

"Yes, sir," She said with a mocking, serious expression.

"One of my agents said that the bullet that Peggy was shot with, wasn't a normal bullet... What was it?"

Dottie liked seeing Sousa this way. Scared, worried. Only for one agent. Dottie smiled mischievously. "Why do you ask?"

"Answer the question!"

"I don't know the full extent of it!" Dottie said as if offended.

"What do you know?"

"From what I've seen, it's like a truth serum. Within seconds after its shot, you become unconscious. And while your unconscious, you start telling truths."

Daniel thought for a moment. That would explain a lot. "How long does it last?"

"When you get the bullet out, I think, like ten minutes."

"Are you aware of the things you said?"

"I don't know. It wasn't used on me."

"Then how do you know so much?"

"Madam Masque and I were in the same room. I saw everything they did to her. They didn't do much with me. Other than ask where Peggy Carter was."

Daniel thought for a moment. "What is it called?"

"Delusion Serum? I don't know."

"Thanks," he mumbled.

He went next door to Frost. She was quiet and still. "Whitney Frost-Or should I call you Agnes Cully?"

"What do you want?"

"I just want to know about some Delusion Serum that Vernon and his guys might have shot or injected into you."

Whitney scoffed. "I'm not talking to you about this."

"All I want to know is if you remember anything you said to whoever you said something to you."

"Yes. Now leave me."

"One more question, do you know if it was a hallucination?"

"Of course, it was. I wouldn't say any of those things aloud!" She said incredulously.

Daniel left, having found all of the information needed. He went to his office and reached for the telephone. But it rang before he touched it. "Hello?"

"Uh, Chief," It's Rose. "The doctors are saying that Peggy is asking for you."

"I'm on my way."
