The Vehement [ON HOLD]

~Chapter 16~

"Shut up, Foster," Daniel whisper yelled to the shadowing agent.

The agent shut his mouth and took his position outside the building. The other agents following suit. Daniel took his spot by the door, all providing cover.

"Sousa to Carter," Daniel whispered into the walkie talkie. "Are you in?"

"Yes," The British accent answered. "So far, all clear."

"Keep in touch."

"Roger."

...

Peggy rounded a corner with three agents following suit. Well, until they came to a fork in the hallway. Peggy motioned for two of the agents to go to the right, while Peggy and Agent Hill went left.

They made it to the end of the path with no trouble. The door at the end of the hall said, 'Basement'. Peggy cautiously opened and pointed her down the stairwell. She told Agent Hill to go down first while she looked back down the hall.

Treasure. At the bottom sat an unconscious Whitney Frost and an alert Dottie Underwood. Though, she didn't look to good. Peggy looked around the room, thinking this rescue was too easy. Finding no one she stepped over to Whitney and checked her pulse. "Well, she's alive."

"And so are you," Dottie said, obviously surprised.

"Oh, Dottie," Peggy said, sarcastically. "It takes more than a few men to kill me. What did they do to you?"

"Oh, you know. Truth serum, blah blah blah, guns, blah blah blah, threatening to kill me. Tried to kill her," She pointed her bloodied finger to Frost. "Almost did."

Peggy gladly slapped Whitney -lightly- trying to get her to consciousness. When she was starting to wake, she worked at the belts that tied her down. Successfully undoing her ankles, she untied her wrists then tied them together again with one of the belts. She handed Frost off to Hill and did the exact same thing to Underwood. Dottie stood up but momentarily lost her balance. "You okay?"

"Just dandy," She replied following Peggy and the other Agent.

Peggy pulled out her walkie talkie, "We've got Frost and Underwood."

There was a long pause before Daniel answered, "Good. We would love it if you came back in a hurry." Peggy heard gunshots as Daniel replied.

"Let's move quickly."

The group made either up the stairs and through the door when Frost started to try and slip into unconsciousness.

"Oh good. Lee, Baker," Peggy's aid meeting them in the middle. "Baker, help Hill with Frost. Lee, just provide cover."

They both did as instructed and Lee says, "We didn't see Vernon. Or anyone for that matter."

Peggy just nodded and continued to quietly and cautiously walk through the building. "Stop them!"

Peggy turned her head to see Vernon and other men charge after them. They eye at quite a distance though, "You can run. Right?" She asked Dottie.

"Uh," Dottie watched add the crowd pulled out guns. "Yeah sure why not." Dottie looked closer at the guns and turned to Peggy again. "Those aren't regular guns."

"How do you mean?"

"I don't know what is in it but it's like a shot. That's what they did to Madam Masque over there."

"Let's go." They all started running towards the exit. When they started shooting, Lee shot back. He managed to take down three of the six men. Two more shots fired and got Peggy. One in her shoulder, the other in her am. "Bloody Gehenna," she gasped.

"Peggy," Underwood said in a warning tone.

Peggy just continued running. They successfully made it out of the building greeted by Daniel and another agent. Baker and Hill took Whitney to a car whilst Lee and Foster took Dorothy to the other. Peggy turned around and easily shot down the other three men before she off too fell to the ground.
