*Aisling's POV*

I was shocked when I woke up in my bed. I didn't even remember falling asleep last night. I rolled over, expecting to see Hunter lying beside me, but to my dismay, he was not. I sat up and quickly looked around. The room was empty. Huh, where was he?

I got out of bed and made my way downstairs. There was my mama cleaning up the kitchen.

"Where are the boys?" I asked her.

"They went out to the baseball game two towns over. Said they'd be gone for most of the day," she answered.

I paused. "On my last day with Hunter, he goes out? He's supposed to be spending the day with me..."

"He didn't really have much of a choice, honey. Your daddy and Trey practically dragged him out the door early this morning. You still have me to hang out with."

I smiled. "Thanks mama, but I think I'm going to go out on a ride with Raine. It's been a long time since I've been out on the trails."

She kissed me on the forehead after grabbing my cheeks. "Be careful and don't worry. I'm sure you'll have plenty of time this evening to spend with him."

With a wink, she pushed me and popped me on the butt. I laughed and went upstairs to get ready. When I was finished, I headed outside to the barn. A neigh greeted me the moment I stepped inside. Raine's head was sticking out of her stall and she was facing me.

"Hello baby girl!" I cooed and walked up to her, petting her nose. She let air out of her nose and pushed her head into my hand. "I missed you. But don't worry, I will be spending plenty of time with you from now on. Hunter's going on tour again." She snorted. "Yeah, I know, he's always gone, but that's alright. He's following his dreams. Now what do you say, do you want to go for a ride?"

She kicked her head back and whinnied happily. I smiled and saddled her up.

The moment I got on her, I clicked my tongue and she set off. The wind flew through my hair as we travelled down the trails towards my peace spot.

I spent most of the day curled up under the tree thinking. Every once in a while I would feel tears rush down my cheeks but soon after, they would clear. I can't be upset. I need to get used to him going away.

I headed back to the house around dinner time. The three men still weren't back so my mama and I ate alone. I then retreated to my bedroom where I sat on my bed peering out of the window into the driveway waiting for them to pull up.

As the hours went by, my blood began to boil. It was nearly midnight now and I hadn't spent any time with Hunter today. He's leaving tomorrow! How could he do this to me?

The sound of car tires on gravel caught my attention almost immediately. I could see the truck making its way down the driveway from my window.

I ran downstairs to the front door where I crossed my arms over my chest and tapped my foot impatiently.

I could hear the three men laughing as they made their way up the front steps. However, their laughter quickly faded once they saw my angry demeanor.

"Hey babe," Hunter greeted me.

I huffed and turned around, walking away.

"Aww, Ais, come on! I haven't seen you all day!" he called after me.

I whirled around furiously. "And whose fault is that?"

That being said, I turned back around and stormed upstairs, slamming my door behind me. I sat down on my bed, knowing that he would come knocking sooner or later. He hates when we fight.
Just like I predicted, two minutes later I could hear a knock at the door. It creaked as it opened and his head peeked in.

“Can I come in?” he questioned.

“It’s a free country,” I muttered.

He closed and locked the door behind him.

“I’m sorry,” he apologized as he neared me.

“I didn’t get to spend any time with you today,” I told him. “Why would you make it be like that?”

“I thought we would be back earlier so I could get some time in with you, but I was having so much fun that I just lost track of time.”

“So hanging out with Trey and my father is more fun than hanging out with me?” I scoffed.

“No, not at all! I just…I don’t know what to say but I’m sorry Aisling.”

He sat next to me on the bed and pushed a stray piece of hair behind my ear.

“I didn’t mean to ruin our last day together,” he said.

“Don’t remind me…”

“I have to otherwise it’s going to be harder for the both of us when tomorrow comes.”

I threw my arms around him and snuggled my head into the crook of his neck.

“I love you,” I mumbled into his shirt.

“I love you too baby girl,” he murmured, kissing the top of my head.

I pulled back and looked him straight in the eyes. He peered back with a smile on his lips.

“Make love to me?” I merely whispered.

He captured my lips in a sweet kiss and held me tight to his chest.

“You don’t even have to ask, love,” he crooned, diving forward and claiming my lips again.
