"I absolutely refuse! I won't go!"

I stood in the doorway, cradling my beach ball sized stomach and gaped at the scene in the office room before me. Akashi was on his feet, eyes red with rage and his fangs showing as he shouted at Midorima and Aomine before him. I had only picked up some of the conversation but it seemed that he had been summoned by the council.

"We can't afford to ignore the summons this time. We have been putting it off for quite some time but this time they know about Kuroko's pregnancy."

I gasped and three pairs of colourful eyes turned towards me. Akashi's eyes softened the moment they met mine but when they turned back towards Midorima they went cold again.

"How? How could they know?"

"We can't be sure but they must have sent someone to check on us since you haven't showed up to any of the vampires soirees in quite some time. If you recall a week ago we caught an unknown scent on the boundary when Kuroko was at the beach it could have been then."

"If they think I will come to them wagging my tail like a good little dog they have another thing coming. They did nothing when Kise was taken not once but twice from us and even when my property was taken they did nothing! Instead I should make them bend knee and come to me!"

My heart hurt when I heard him say property and knew that this was the Seijuro of the Akashi clan, powerful pure blood vampire. He had returned to that world, where humans were property and an Eve was simply a means to an end. I knew he didn't mean the words he said, he just had to hide his kind heart in a place as dark as where he came from but it still hurt. I felt a hand on my shoulder and looked up into the kind sunflower eyes of Kise and his bright smile. I smiled back at him but felt my eyes burn. Yes I knew Akashi didn't mean those words, but I was emotional and everything made me cry these days.

"That is another matter we will discuss at another time," Midorima's voice held a note of finality and I could have sworn his eyes flickered towards me.

Akashi looked over at me again and seemed to drink in everything about me and I saw his eyes soften and return to the crimson and gold ones I knew and loved.

"You are right, forgive me for my outburst but my answer remains the same. I will not got. Not when Kuroko needs me and is close to his due date."

"He still has a month to go and we are going! You can argue all you want but this will ensure Kuroko's safety even more and the council will begin to bend to your will."

Akashi and I both turned to look at Midorima, not quite understanding what he was saying. With a sigh his adjusted his glasses and continued, "an Eve is claimed and made untouchable by others once she is with child. Thus any who disobey will be ruthlessly hunted down and executed for their crime."

Akashi's eyes widened with recognition and he looked over at me, longing in his eyes.

"But, I can't leave his side! And I wouldn't even dream of taking him with us in his condition."

"This wasn't a request but a demand. If we disobey this again your entire clan and name could be in jeopardy."

Aomine looked back at me as he said that and the true meaning of his words hit me causing my knees to go weak. My safety and right to stay with Akashi and his clan was hanging in the balance. I saw Akashi's eyes begin to darken again and I moved forward as quickly as my little legs could and grabbed his arm to calm him.

"It's okay Sei-kun. Go. Do what you have to as a pure blood and claim me so they can't take me away, please."

I knew my request was selfish but I was afraid. I knew that it was only because Akashi was so powerful and his family so high up in the vampire hierarchy that I could be with them all. The thought of them being punished, or of myself being taken away made me sick to my stomach. To my shame I felt my eyes fill with tears and I buried my head into his chest.
