"Welcome, Harry, to Diagon Alley!" - Rubeus Hagrid
-------------------------------------------------------
I woke up in my bed. Father had changed me into my pajamas. It didn't really bother me all that much, because he used to gives me baths when I was younger anyways. I glanced at the clock on my bedside table. It was 6 in the morning, still too early to wake up. I grabbed my blanket and wrapped myself in it before walking out of the room. I walked into his room and camped out on the floor, eventually falling asleep again.
When I woke up again, I was on a comfortable bed. I looked around to see no one else. I yawned and stretched before sitting up. Glancing at the calendar on the wall, I could see it was the 27th of August. School would start soon. I was excited. I could not wait to see my friends again. Just then, the door opened and father stood in the doorway. "About time you woke up. Please refrain from camping out on my floor. I nearly stepped on you."
"And I haven't even complained about that yet!" I stated with a grin. Father narrowed his eyes at me. Choosing to ignore my comment, Father continued.
"I would advise you to begin packing today, as classes begin in less than a week."
"Can you use magic and pack for me?" I glanced at him with hopeful eyes.
"No." He stated, with no room for argument. "And lunch is on the table." With this said, he walked out. I slid the covers aside and stood up, walking to the bathroom. I brushed my teeth and hair, and headed downstairs. Father narrowed his eyes when he saw me. "Could you at least change?"
"Why? It's not like we're going anywhere today."
"I will be taking you to Diagon Alley. You may get any items you will need this year. Your schoolbook will wait until you receive your letter."
"Will you buy me a broom?" I grinned.
"No."
"What? But I really really want one, and I'm gonna try out for an official spot on the team." I poured.
"No."
"But why?" I whined.
"It's none of your concern." I stood in my pajamas, refusing to move, and put on a very annoyed expression. After about ten minutes, Father pinched the bridge of his nose and stood up. "Fine. I will get you a broomstick if you make the team. But not today." I grinned, knowing I wasn't gonna get anything else. I dashed upstairs to get dressed and ran back to the kitchen.
I chose to wear a simple summer dress, and I draped my cloak over my shoulders in case I got cold. I went to the kitchen to eat some lunch. I plopped myself down in the chair and began shoveling food into my mouth until father came in and frowned at me. "Are you unable to eat properly either?" I scowled and continued shoveling food down my mouth until father sighed and turned away. I finished my breakfast and went over to the sink to rinse my plate.
I raced out into the front hall in record time and slid my shoes on. Father walked out in his robes. "What if the muggles see you dressed like that?"
"They won't," father replied swiftly, "because we're traveling by floo powder today." I groaned. Every single time, I ended up banging my head on the way out. Nevertheless, I walked back into the living room and and stepped into the fireplace.
Grabbing a handful of floo powder, I yelled: "Diagon Alley!" I appeared from the other side covered in soot and had slid six meters from the fireplace. I coughed. Father stepped out the fireplace carefully and I shot him an annoyed glare. We walked out into the alley and I instantly ran into a store that had the latest broomsticks on display. The Nimbus 2001 was on display. "Oh please, please, please buy me this broom!"
"What did we agree on??"
"Please! I won't make the team if I don't practice with a good broom!"
"Your brother seemed to achieve just that."
"So you admit Harry is a natural at quidditch!" I stated cheerfully.
"Do not put words in my mouth."
" Pleeeeaaaase. I won't spend money on anything else today!"
"I brought you here to purchase your school supplies!"
"I want that broom! Please, I've always wanted to fly." I sniffled. Father groaned audibly.
"Don't be such a child."
"But I AM a child! If you didn't want to raise a child than maybe you should've left me with the Dursleys!"
"Maybe I should've!" I gasped and raced out of the store. I could hear father yelling behind me, but I refused to slow down. I ran and ran until I stood behind Ollivanders and just sat down to cry. Maybe it was seconds, or minutes later, but I felt a hand on my shoulder. "I'm sorry." Something was placed in front of me. "When you're ready to listen, I'll be at home waiting." After I was sure he'd left, I raised my head. In front of me lay a beautiful Nimbus 2001. I gasped and slowly reached my hand out to stroke it. It was beautiful. I felt a tinge of regret for screaming at father. I slowly stood up and made my way back to the fireplace.
"Spinner's End!" I hurtled out the other end and flew into the living room, hanging on to my new broom for dear life. Father looked relieved to see me.
"You're home."
I nodded and muttered a quiet "thanks". He nodded and I awkwardly walked upstairs.
