Amy pov

I slammed through the front door of the hospital. My heart thumped in my chest as I climbed the stairs, no time for an elevator.
I sharply turned corners, scanning the numbers on the doors to find his room.

I finally found it, door 151. I stared at the door and looked around desperately. A doctor. Where was a doctor? I started to panic, and opened the door. I ran in and scanned my surroundings.

A purple fox nurse turned around, surprised. But she was the only one in the room.
"Sonic the hedgehog" I said. At first she looked confused, than understood.
"Room 346" she answered. Great. More stairs to run. I ran as fast as I could, while trying not to trip and ultimately face plant.

I looked for the number, and burst through the door.
There he was. He was awake, and looked over at me.
He had bruises all over himself. He had a bandage wrapping around his torso. He was beat up, but he was alive.
"Hey, Ames" he said at last.
Tears were brought to my eyes, but stopped myself from running at him.

I carefully walked over and whipped away the tears.
"How are you doing?" I asked.
He smiled and shifted.
"Not dead, so thats good." He suddenly frowned a little and looked past me.
"Shadow didn't come with you?" He asked. I shrugged.
"Why would he?" He nodded, looking into the distance.
I smiled. It was a stupid thing of him to ask.

Sonic was out of the hospital in no time. He was in there for a few days for them to examine him and for his body to heal. Fortunately, there was no permanent damage.

I rented a car to drive Sonic home. He said that he would be alright to walk, but the doctors said that it might be a good idea too, so that there would be less pressure on the body.

I drove up to the hospital and he got in.
"You didn't have to do this, Ames" he said. I smiled.
"It's my pleasure, really" I replied, driving out of the parking lot.
"That's so like you to say Ames" he said, looking out the window.
"I'm really sorry Shadow had gotten out of hand. It was unlike him to do, and–"
"Ames, don't worry about it. No one can control Shadow." There was a grudge in his voice and mockery as he pointed out that no one could control him. What was that supposed to mean?

I brushed it off and continued listening.
"You should just forget about him." I clutched the wheel and he reworded his sentence.
"To be honest, I was going to try to give him a chance" he said.
"Really?" I asked, quite surprised.
He nodded.
"Well, ya. I mean... if he's what you want, then there must of been something you saw in him."

"Sonic, I'm so happy that you're trying" I sighed happily. Maybe this tragic story was going to finally come to an end.

"Amy, I was going to. Do you see what happens when he gets mad? Not to mention that he has a short fuse on his temper." I slammed on the breaks. He jerked forward and looked at me, stunned.
I spun towards him.
"Why are you giving up so easily!" I yelled.

He looked at me, surprised and speechless.
"You put up with Eggman for years, and still are! You put up with me for most of my life and love notes. You handle bad tempered knuckles with a cool attitude. How come you can't put up with him!?"

"Those people, I can keep under control" he said.
"You can't keep me under control, Sonic the hedgehog!" I shouted. His eyes widened and I hit the gas. We zoomed down the road, and I drifted the corner, Sonic screaming some words that I couldn't hear, nor did I care about.

I drove into his driveway, and parked. I looked at Sonic.
His eyes were wild and he looked quite flustered. He whipped away some tears and calmly collected himself.
"If you haven't noticed, this is your stop–"
"I know" he sighed quickly.

He opened the door and got up.
"Amy, can we talk tomorrow at the cafe?" He asked. I sighed.
"Fine, but I'll have to bring Shadow" I said.
"Great, you can't do anything without his super vision, huh?" He said, rolling his eyes.
"I can do plenty of things. But people won't leave me alone!" I shouted.

With that, I backed up, and sped down the street.
