Chapter 6 Date

The doorbell rang and I ran to go answer the door. I opened it to see Shadow standing there, a small bouquet of roses in his hand.
"Good afternoon, Amy" he said as he presented the roses. I smiled and carefully received them.
"Thank you, Shadow. They are beautiful!" I walked out the door and closed it behind me. I wore a green dress just because it was our first date. We were going to a cafe. Since it was our first date, I thought it would be appropriate to go there. I had picked the place, and if we ever went on another, he would pick the place next. My street was silent right bow but I could tell that he was a little uncomfortable anyways.
But how could I blame him? This was probably his first date ever. Another matter of fact, when we turned the corner it was going to be busy and I knew that my friends were in the cafe or on that street.

We turned the corner and it was just how I guessed.
People coming out of the stores, bags in their hands. I tensed up. I suppose I was just as nervous as he was.
I didn't tell any of my friends except for Sonic about Shadow! We passed most of the people. I recognized a group of people, just a few yards from the cafe. It was my friends, Rouge, Tails, Knuckles, Silver, Cream, Sally and Blaze. I was guessing that they were waiting for Sonic. Rouge looked up and saw me, her eyes growing wide.
She elbowed Knuckles gently and gestured to me with her head.
The group starred, very surprised and confused expressions on their faces.

I looked down at my feet, blushing fiercely. I suddenly felt Shadow grab my hand, making the group even more shocked. I found it almost amusing.
I looked up into Sally's eyes, whom looked most shocked.
Of course she thought I had liked Sonic. Who wouldn't when I chase after him and tell him my feelings?

We passed them and I could hear them whisper to each other.
"What?" Whispered Tails rhetorically.
"Are they... a thing?" Asked Knuckles.
We walked into the cafe and surely enough, I saw Sonic at one of the stools at the counter eating.

He didn't notice us come in or sit at a booth. Shadow didn't pay a single glimpse to him, though I could tell that he knew Sonic was here. I couldn't help but pass numerous glances at him.
I looked back at Shadow who didn't look very pleased that I payed more attention to the one he called faker rather than pay attention to him.

"Sorry" I apologized as a russet squirrel came to take our order.
As soon as I said something to the waiter, Sonic looked over. His eyes widened as he stared at me then Shadow. Shadow's ears twitched as if he could feel Sonics eyes.
I looked down at my hands on my lap.
I could feel myself blush a little.

"Something wrong?" Asked Shadow suddenly. I looked up a little.
"Sonics staring" I said quietly.
"No wonder. you were staring at him for almost a whole minuet. Of coarse he's going to stare at you for that" he said coldly. I blushed, feeling foolish for staring at Sonic enough to have caught the attention of him.
Shadow sighed and got up and slid out of the booth.
"Shadow what are you doing?" I asked.
But he ignored me.
"Faker! Got a problem?" Shouted Shadow to Sonic. I stared in surprise. He was seemed very tense.
Everyone was staring and Sonics attention was now focused on Shadow.

"Nothings wrong, calm down" said Sonic as he drank his beverage. I got up and took Shadows hand.
"Hey, it's ok" I said.
Shadow stared at me and hesitated, but sat down.
"You don't have to get in fights for me" I reassured him as I sat.
"Isn't that just apart of love?" He asked rhetorically.
"Ya... something like that" I said.

By the time we had finished our dinner, Sonic was already gone. We got up and walked out of the Café doors and I was escorted to my house like last night.
"Listen..." said Shadow as I put my hand on the door knob.
"Huh?" I asked. I already kind of knew what he was going to say. He hadn't liked the date. I could tell. He didn't want to go out with me ever again.
"Despite your attempt to make faker jealous by our date and also try to make sure the date went well at the same time, I am willing to go on another date with you" he said, looking away and leaning on the railing, slightly blushing.
"Really?" I asked, surprised and excited.
"Of course. But I'm picking the place this time. Would tomorrow work for you?" He asked. I gasped and happily hugged him.
"I would love that!" I said happily.
With that, he said goodbye and I closed the door. I couldn't help feeling guilty for doing that to our date.
But I also couldn't help feeling in love with the idea of our second date.

And feeling in love Shadow.
