Memories

"Your father? I'm sorry I forgot-- I didn't know this was the last place... I'll take you home." He moves to start the car again but you grab his hand.
"It's okay. It won't hurt if you're with me." You offer a smile. He blinks and leans over, kissing you softly.
"If you say so beautiful." He pulls back cupping your cheek as you blush.
"I say... Now come on, let's go." You chime getting out. His smile falters briefly before getting out as well.
"I hope you like going with me." He says taking your hand as you both start inside. You look around distracted as he pays to get in. He peers at you before leading you to the giant tanks. Your eyes follow the fish steadily. Colors that seemed so familiar yet felt fuzzy to you. Law watches you carefully, concern beginning to build on his face.
Something prods at the back of your mind but you can't focus on anything. Law puts an arm around you as you begin to drift away without realizing. You blink and look over at him.
"Are you sure you're okay ___?" He cups your cheek worried.
"Yeah... I'm just trying to remember that day but..." You frown looking down. He frowns rubbing your back before something catches his eye.
"Polar bear exhibit..." He murmurs and you freeze, eyes widening as a memory floods in.

~~~~Flashback~~~~

    The boy rushed ahead bouncing with excitement, fuzzy white hat on his head with grey speckles. You giggle rushing after him when he suddenly turns to you with a grin, hugging his white polar bear teddy.
"___! Look! They're going to bring polar bears here!" He gasps pointing at the sign.
"That's great La-la! You love polar bears!" You chime.
"That's not all I love!" He chuckles sheepishly then blinks looking around. "Uh oh, we lost your dad again.." He frowns taking your hand.
"That's because you run fast La-la," You giggle. He blushes and chuckles kissing your cheek.
"You run fast too ___!" He chimes. You giggle and hug him.
"I love you La-la," You murmur. He grins and hugs you back.
"I love you too--" He suddenly freezes and pulls you behind a tank. You blink confused and follow his gaze to see your uncle and dad talking, but something was wrong.
"Why does my daddy look so angry at Uncle Doffy?" You whisper hugging him. He frowns hugging you tighter, eyes not leaving Doflamingo.
"Your uncle is a bad man... That's why your dad brought me home to you..." He murmurs.
"Is he gonna take you away La-la?" You ask looking at him worried. He meets your gaze and starts to shake, fear evident in his silvery gaze.
"I don't know.." He whispers. You frown and hug him tighter.
"I won't let him..." You murmur.
"Ah, there you are children." A man rumbles making you both look up.
"Vergo!" Law gasps in fear.
"You leave us alone!" You shout punching the man in the groin. He doubles over with a pained gasp. You grab the boy's hand and run down the hall, not hearing your fathers call.

"___? ___! Are you okay?" Law gasps worried tapping your cheek. You blink back and look at him before looking around and suddenly running down the hall trying to catch up to your broken memory. "___!" Law gives chase worried about you. You don't respond stopping briefly and looking over before running into the the penguin exhibit are, stopping as the memory returns to you.

~~~Flashback~~~

      You pull the boy into a closed off hall and through a door before closing it and sitting down on the icey white floor with him.
"You shouldn't have done that ___, he could've hurt you." He frowns.
"I don't care, my daddy will protect us!" You grin. He blinks and takes your hands.
"I wanna protect you too ___, you're going to be my wife someday." He says. You smile and giggle at that.
"And you're going to be my husband! So I have to protect you too!" You chime. He smiles and hugs you tight. An odd sound makes you both look over. "Penguins!" You gasp.
"They probably just put them here." He says reaching out and carefully petting it. You giggle as more waddle in and cuddle up to you both in a friendly manner. You look at him as he giggles petting them and smile, kissing his cheek. He blinks and looks at you in surprise before smiling and kissing your cheek in return.
After some time a man comes in and stops gaping at you both. "What are you kids doing in here!?" He gasps.
"I dunno.." You shrug.
"H-how old are you?" He asks carefully.
"I'm six! And La-la is seven!" You chime. He relaxes with a sigh.
"I found the kids that man was looking for." He says into his walkie talkie before leading you two out, kind of struggling to keep the penguins in. You giggle grabbing the boy's hand as you both head out to the main hall. Your father soon comes and picks you up panicked, kissing all over your face.
"Oh my baby girl! I was so worried! Are you okay!? Are you hurt!?" He gasps.
"We're okay daddy! I punched the bad man in the stomach and me and Law hid with the penguins!" You chime.
"You didn't hit him in the stomach..." Law starts but your dad cuts him off by scooping him up.
"I'm glad you're okay Law... I promise I'm going to do everything I can to protect you." He vows. Law blinks and tears up before hugging him.
"I'm sorry Cora-San..." He sniffles.
"Shh, it's okay, let's go get ice cream!" Rocinante chimes and trips as he turns landing flat on his back. You and Law giggle at that, smiling happily.

"___ please say something, I'm worried.." Law cups your face and you blink back, tearing up.
"La-la..." You whisper. Law tenses blinking at you as you look at him. "Why... Why can't I remember my old best friend?" You sniff shaking. "What happened to him? Is he okay?"
You begin to ramble, hysterical and Law bites his lip hugging you tightly, burying his face in your hair.
"I'm sorry ___..." He whispers shaking. "I should have never brought you here..."
