The palace was as grand on the inside as it was on the outside, fur skin carpets and lavish blue sofa's around every corner. The hallways adorned the same blue stained windows that Ivy had seen before and the floor was so polished that you could see your own reflection. However, that's were the pure beauty dispersed. Tall court ladies waddled around wearing their long, expensive gowns and caked on makeup. Ivy watched them eye the men flirtatiously, fanning themselves and giggling together. A short girl stood on her own apart from the giggling monstrosities with yearning in her eyes as she watched Leza and Ivy. With a sigh, the girl turned and ran off down the hall with a single backwards glance.
Ivy followed the Posse in a somewhat bored manner, glancing at the walls every now and then. At first, the castle had seemed grand and beautiful. But now she could tell that on the inside, it was as pompous as it's inhabitants.
"Palace doesn't impress you?" Iel smirked down at her, lifting a snow-white eyebrow.
"I've seen grander." She replied with a grin.
He laughed and then looked away from her, seriousness covering his smile.
"The king is to see us." He spoke in an odd way, Ivy didn't understand this boy standing next to her. His moods changing every ten seconds, it seemed.
"And?"
He glanced down at her apologetically.
"He wants to see Irian, myself and. . ." Ivy frowned at him
"And who else, Iel? Who else?" He sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose.
"Alex."
Ivy frowned. "Alex? What on Earth does he want with Alex?"
She watched Iel chew on his lip nervously.
"The King wants him as his 'personal assassin' apparently." Ivy blinked, why would Iel be wary about telling Ivy this? Did he think that she'd be jealous? She set her jaw and set her stony gaze on him.
"Wonderful." She forced a smile and then watched the backs of the camp members as they plodded on.
"Ivy. . ."
"What?" She asked, wincing at the sharpness in her voice.
"Well, aren't you mad?" She frowned again and looked up at him. He was so tall, she had to crane her neck up to look him in the eye.
"Why would I be mad? I'm perfectly fine!"
"But he's taking away your limelight!"
She was so confused. Why did he even care?
"Iel, I already have a job - which I've most likely lost - and Alex deserves this."
"Ivy, come on, he hasn't even spoken to you for the past week!"
She ground her teeth at his words. As much as she wished it wasn't, it was true. He'd barely glanced at her for the entire journey. It was probably because she was spending time with Leza, she told herself desperately.
"Do you think I want to kill more people? I really hope that you're joking right now." She hissed under her breath, trying not to make a scene.
"I know, It's just," he sighed and continued wearily. "Voy said that when they found you, you ran. He said that you didn't even have to spare them a second glance to know that they were a threat - even though we just want to help." He added with a small smile.
"He said that you were fast, really fast. Then he said that when he spotted Alex he had been oblivious to the threat. He had walked with them and they knocked him out. What I'm trying to say is, he isn't deserving to serve the King. I fear that he could get ahead of himself. Turn into a monster."
