The Doctor began as a time lord who was in between a war of Daleks and Time Lords. The Doctor had seen something that's never left his mind, seeing his own kind dead, murdered by the Daleks that the Doctor still faces to this very day. The Daleks now know a and fear the Doctor as does everyone who gets on his bad side. The Doctor has his sonic screwdriver to stop, open, lock anything made of metal but not wood.
