Once Clara composed herself, composed meaning shouting for Toby to leave her, sobbing for a good twenty minutes, reflected for a good ten, then blowing her nose in her hospital gown, she knocked on one of the walls.
She was suprise to find a girl walk in instead of Toby. Perhaps he had left her from annoyance of her behaviour. She couldn't say she really cared either way. She was mouring, what did he expect?
The girls hair was in a long, thick, black platt down her back all the way to her butt. She wore black skinny jeans and a buttoned up professional looking black jacket. She was beautiful, maybe a few years older than Clara, with brown eyes, a button nose and olive toned skin.
"My name is Isabella." She said as she entered. "But you can call me Bella."
"Hello, Bella." Clara said, not really knowing what to say.
Bella walked towards one of the walls and produced what looked like an iPad. She tapped a few things on the iPad-like gadget, and did the same thing on the wall. Clara watched, transfixed on her long, lean, fingers.
There was a sound, like a puff of smoke, then a click and a hidden door slid open. Clara stepped forwards at the same time Bella stepped back. They collided and Clara awkwardly stepped to the side.
Bella scowled but said nothing.
Clara cleared her throat. "Um...I know you guys probably get this question a lot, but where am I?"
What happened to my family? Is the question she was too afraid to ask.
Bella turned to face her, brown eyes wide and burning. "Don't make me regret helping you."
Clara had no idea what she meant but was honestly too afraid to find out. She didn't really have much time to, since Bella stepped through the hidden door, motioning for Clara to follow.
The door actually lead into a rather large closet, or more like a storage room. Boxes were stacked all the way to the ceiling, all with the same black squiggles that Clara couldn't read. It smelt stale and dusty, causing Clara to scrunch her nose.
"What size are you?" Bella said suddenly.
"Huh?"
"Clothes size. What is it?" She snapped impatiently.
"Eight." Clara said quickly. "But a six would do alright."
Bella looked her up and down once. Clara could imagine what she was thinking. Did the girl ever eat?! Not only is she the height of a ten year old, but has hips that aren't even worth mentioning and arms and legs as skinny as twigs. Clara still waited for that wondrous moment when she grew large boobs and a butt like most girls in her school. Being she was now sixteen and had stopped growing, she didn't see that time coming anytime soon. She inwardly sighed.
"Size ten it is then." Bella muttered, pulling down one of the boxes and handing it to to Clara, shoving it rather painfully into her chest. Like jeez, Clara knew she had no boobs but that didn't mean it didn't hurt! She found herself scowling at Bella who just ignored her.
"Change in here. Don't take too long. Knock when your done."
With those words she spun on her heels and left the room, invisible door sliding closed behind her. Clara counted to ten in her head before placing the box on the floor and sitting on her butt. Thank the Lord it wasn't one of those hospital gowns with no backs.
Inside the box, to Clara's dismay, were a few grey shirts size ten like Bella said, a comb, a bottle of half used hair spray, a green military jacket, three Bobby pins, a scrunchy, and a pair of white trainers. Seeing no trousers, Clara looked up at the tower of boxes then did the only thing there was too. She began to climb.
Clara had to admit, she kinda felt like donkey kong all the way up the boxes and even, began swinging her fists at invisible planes. Her stupid behaviour made herself laugh, which caused her to almost small. Given her height, falling probably wasn't the best idea so high up.
She pulled down the top box and let it drop to the ground before slowly making her way back down.
Inside the second box was a not yet opened tooth brush, what looked like a eye lash curler and a piece of dark green fabric neatly folded at the bottom. Clara pulled it up, discovering that it was actually a dress. Clara sighed with relief, having thought she'd have to go out in nothing but her underwear.
