Desiree;
It had been four months since the night me and Harry went running all around London, and it had been three months since Harry managed to convince me into moving in with him. He said we were basically already living together so why not speed it up a bit.
We'd just finished eating Thai noodles and pizza on the couch when Harry decided to bring up buying a place together again. It's not that I didn't want to buy a place with him... It was just a lot of commitment.
If we did do this it meant that we were in it for the long run. Owning a house together was like having a child together and that scared me. I sighed aloud, running my hands through my hair.
"Isn't all this enough?" I questioned, gesturing around the extravagantly decorated living room. "I'm fine with living here we don't need to move anywhere else." This topic brought up my anxiety levels by about ten percent. It made me want to itch at my arms.
"We can keep this place if you want, but I want a place we can call ours... A place we can call home. Because quite frankly this place doesn't feel like a home." Harry had shuffled across the couch so he was able to wrap his arm around my shoulder, almost immediately soothing my nerves.
"It's just such a big step Harry. This is a legal matter, once those papers are signed that's it. There's no going back." I rested my head against his chest and listened to his steady heartbeat, it didn't falter once during his argument.
"Don't you want to be able to pick curtains, and tiles, and theme the living room or the kitchen? Can't you just say yes?"
I sighed again however this time a little louder. He got me there, I had told him numerous amounts of times how badly I wanted to decorate my own house. It had been a dream of mine since my childhood.
I sat in his arms mentally weighing the pros and cons of moving in with him. Pros: we could go house hunting together, we could pick colors and themes, we would have a place to call ours, I wouldn't have to wake up to seeing my face on the ceiling every morning. Cons: if we ever got into a bad argument I would be screwed... But that's it really.
"Okay. But only if it's a Victorian mansion." I whispered in a joking manner.
Harry's heartbeat picked up its speed along with his breathing, I didn't really understand how much this meant to him until now.
"Really? Like really really, you're not just fucking with me." His hands were on my shoulders as he held me out at arms length to properly gauge my reaction. His eyes were so full of light and the smile on his face reached his ears. I don't think I've ever seen him this happy about anything.
"Yeah really." And I meant it! If this is all it took to see Harry that happy all the time then it was more than worth it.
"Come on we should go to bed." The lustful look in Harry's eyes a clear giveaway that we wouldn't be getting much sleep tonight.
---
"Come on Desiree get ready, we've got a big day ahead of us!" The covers were ripped from my tired body allowing the chilly air to nip at my skin.
"What are you talking about Harry, its a Saturday, get back in bed." I grumbled in a groggy voice, a silent string of curse words being thrown his way.
"Hurry up D, we have to be there in forty minutes." And with that he flicked on the lights and left the room, closing the door behind him.
I had no idea why he had woken me up this early, or why we were even leaving the safe confines of our bedroom. Grumbling to myself I managed to roll myself out of bed with very little effort. I was definitely not a morning person and thanks to Harry, I would probably be grumpy all day.
Thankfully I had somehow changed, brushed my my teeth, put makeup on and brush my hair out in just under fifteen minutes. A new record that I was secretly very proud of.
When I finally emerge from the bedroom, Harry handed me a togo coffee cup and a bagel. Apparently I didn't have enough time to eat at home because we had to drive into the country side... Great.
"Harry seriously. Where the hell are we going?" He momentarily took his eyes off the road and looked at me with an affectionate smile on his lips.
"It's a surprise." His large hand left the steering wheel and took hold of my hand that previously held a bagel. His plush lips kissing each of my knuckles twice over before resting our hands in my lap.
After about seven minutes had passed we pulled into a long drive, I didn't really think about it much until a rather large, rather Victorian mansion can into view. My jaw went completely slack at the sight of it. He had to be crazy.
"Harry, what are we doing here." I was at a loss for words until a professionally dressed blond lady came up to our car.
"Hello you much be Harry and Desiree. I'm Anneliese Kerr, your Realtor." Anneliese introduced herself as we climbed out of Harry's car. She had a strong handshake which if I remember correctly, my father told me to always trust a person with a firm handshake.
The reality of it all was finally settling in and it was then that I was able to take a proper look at the house. It was huge, and made from red brick, the two dead giveaways that this house is way out of my price range.
Anneliese lead us through the grand foyer and it was safe to say that the inside of the house was more appealing to ones eye. It was slightly modified to look a little more modern but it still had that old look to it which I loved.
It took us thirty? Maybe forty minutes to complete a round of the house and I could safely say that I had never been more in love with something materialistic.
"I'll give you two a minute to discuss things." Anneliese nodded and excused herself, disappearing around a corner and going god knows where.
"So what did you think?" Harry looked so happy.
"It's gorgeous, everything I've ever wanted in a house." I confess, feeling slightly guilty while doing so.
"Does that mean we can buy it?" His hands grabbed my own and gave them a tight squeeze, his smile only growing.
"I wish we could, but I just don't have that money and my parents are completely livid with me right now." I don't know how, but somehow they had managed to track me down even though I left the damn country to get away from them.
"Money isn't an issue! I can just sign them a check and it'll be ours." I shook my head at him, I wouldn't let him do that. He can't pay for it all. "What do you mean? Why now?"
"Because I'm not going to let you pay the whole thing by yourself. How is that fair."
After almost fighting over the matter we settled on an agreement. He could buy the house only if I payed the bills and got the groceries, however Harry argued that buying the house was a one off and bills and groceries were a constant, so we would 'take turns' and that's where we finally came to the agreement.
Anneliese walked back into the room with her clipboard in hand and a bright smile on her face. "So, how did everything go?" Harry beamed down at her as he put his arms around me.
"We'll take it."
It took about half an hour to sign the paperwork and sort out the payments. Harry wanted to pay it all in one go so he wouldn't have to worry about it in the future. Another five minutes and Anneliese was handing over the keys and saying her goodbyes, closing the front door on her way out.
Harry came up behind me as I looked out a window in our new living room. We had a beautiful view of forestry and a slightly frosty lake from our back yard and It was in that moment that I finally felt content. I might only be nineteen years old, but I knew what I wanted and I was legally an adult so no one could tell me what I was doing was wrong.
Harry wrapped his arms around my waist and cuddled into me, sweetly kissing my rosy cheek.
"Welcome home baby."
