I walked into Sam's room to see her still sleeping at 11:00 on a Saturday morning. She look absolutely adorable, thumb in her mouth. Natalie hated when Sam would suck on her thumb, but I never saw any harm in it. Just as I was about to wake my fragile 5 year old up, she started talking in her sleep.
"Mommy I thought you loved me! Why would you leave me?"
My heart sank hearing Sam sound so broken. She was definitely having a nightmare. I slowly stroked her hair and whispered, "Time to wake up Sammy." She woke up, almost startled.
"Daddy, I had a bad dream."
"Well, sometimes the best thing to do is talk about it. What was your dream about, sweetie?"
"It was about mommy. She told me she was leaving me! Forever! Kinda like in real life." She pouted looking up at me, for an answer, a reassuring thing to say.
"Sam, mommy didn't leave us on purpose. She tried to stay with us, but her body wasn't strong enough. She loved you more than anything in the whole world! Trust me, she's still with us, remember?"
Sam then pointed to her heart, like I showed her when I told her Nat died.
"But I miss mommy. I want her to come back, and take me shopping!"
"I'll take you shopping, Sam!"
"Really? Can Uncle Harry come too?"
"Definitely."
I texted Harry to come over to my place at 2:00, when we were leaving. Natalie always took Sam shopping, so I wasn't used to it. I didn't even know where to go.

The doorbell rang, and I checked the clock to see it was already 2:00. Sam beat me to the door and I watched as She welcomed Harry with a hug.
We piled into the car and started on our way.
Sam knew exactly where to go, pretty smart for a 5 year old. When we arrived at the children's clothes store, Harry and I began looking around. So did Sam.
"People are gonna think we're a gay couple." Harry laughed.
"Probably, but oh well, I'll come back with a, "My girlfriend died." And see how they feel"
We stopped our joking when Sam walked up to us with a pile of clothes.
"I want all these."
"Woah Sam! That's a lot of clothes. Are they all your size?"
"Yes daddy, duh!" She giggled.
I bought all the clothes she picked out, and we left.
I surprised we didn't run into any paparazzi while we were out, usually they're everywhere. After 6 years of being One Direction, we were still going strong. All of our fans supported us still, and we were happy. Sam loved the attention.
We decided to go out to lunch to Nandos, Samantha's favorite place to eat.
But, of course there were paparazzi there. I picked up Sam in my arms, hoping she wouldn't get hurt. There was so much shouting.
"Louis! We know that Natalie's dead, are you searching for a new girl?"
"Louis, how are you coping with Natalie's death?"
"Is it true you were cheating on Natalie, and now you're glad she's dead?"
Tears started to prick my eyes because I don't understand why anyone would ever think that about me. I have a fucking daughter! How could they shout those things, in front of her? We rushed out of the restaurant, and when I thought things couldn't get any worse, I hear, "OMG is that Louis Tomlinson and Harry Styles?!?!"
"Shit" I mutter under my breathe.
"Daddy! Don't say bad words!" Sam scolded me.
"Yeah Louis! Don't say bad words!" Harry laughed.
"Harry shut up we have to get to the car before we get mobbed."
We ran to the car as fast as we could, and the whole time Sam was just giggling. I got her into her carseat and drove off, leaving the fangirls behind.
"When mummy took me shopping we always went to Nandos after." Sam whined.
"I know Sammy, but there were too many paparazzi there."
"I want to go to Nandos!" She demanded, in an angry tone.
"I'm sorry Sam there's nothing I can do"
That obviously made her angry because she started screaming and crying to the point Harry was plugging his ears.
"Samantha Grace! Stop right now! We can't go to Nandos and that's final!"
She kept sobbing, "I liked mummy more than you because she took me to Nandos!"
"Samantha I know you don't mean that!"
"I wish you could've had a monster inside you instead of mummy!"
I think she just practically said that she wished I had cancer instead. That hurt. Harry patted me on the back as mouthed, 'She didn't mean it'

When we got back home, I sent Samantha to her room for being disrespectful. She cried even harder and slammed the door.
I slumped down on the couch next to Harry.
"What do I do Harry? Do I punish her?"
"Well obviously Louis! She was totally disrespecting you!"
"Yeah, but her mum just died. She's going through a tough time."
"I would just make sure she knows how she talked to you was bad, and that she couldn't watch TV for a day or 2. That should be fine."
"Thanks Harry, you're gonna make a great dad someday, and thanks for helping me out today. I couldn't have done it alone."
"Anything for my best mate."
