Chapter 5:
8 months. That's how long it's been since I lost the love of my life. 8 months since I've kissed anyone. 8 months since I've been on a date. 8 months of no sex. 8 months of feeling alone. The only thing that's keeping me going? Samantha.
It's amazing what kids can do. They can put a smile on anyone's face, they barely have to try. Whenever I start to think about Natalie, Sam seems to always be there to do something to cheer me up. She keeps me on my toes. The boys have also helped a lot. I know I can call them anytime for advice, or if I need help with Sam. I'm glad I have these people in my life, or I'd be a complete wreck.
-
I glanced at the clock to see it was almost 3, I had to pick up Sam from school. I got off the couch and looked for my shoes. I couldn't find them anywhere! If only Nat were here, she'd say some smart ass comment like, 'Didn't know it was my turn to watch them' but end up finding them for me.
After a few minutes of looking, I finally found them under the couch. How on earth did they get there?
Shit, I was already 5 minutes late picking up Sam from school. Of course. At least the school was close, I hate the fact of her waiting alone for me to pick her up.
I pulled into the pick up lane at Sam's school. I saw her, as I suspected, sitting alone.
She got in the car, I hope she wasn't mad. "Daddy, you're late again."
I sighed, "I know baby, I'm sorry."
"It's okay. I understand. Hey daddy?"
"Yes Sammy?"
"It's Friday, do you think we could have a movie night tonight?"
I smiled, "Of course! Should I invite the other boys, like last time?"
"Then it would be a party!" She laughed.
I began to laugh along with her. I never thought I could love anyone this much.
-
When we got home I called Harry.
"Hey Haz, Sam wants you guys to come over for movie night! Can you come?"
"Louis, did you forget?"
I thought for a while then remembered. The AMAs. I forgot.
"Shit. I forgot. What time are we supposed to be at the airport?"
"An hour."
"Tell Paul and the rest of the boys Sam and I might be a little late, but we're coming!"
"Hurry up!"
With that he hung up the phone. Taking my daughter to an awards ceremony? Great. Usually she stayed home with Nat. "Sam! Come here! I've gotta tell you something!"
She came into the living room with a pile of movies in her hand. She won't be happy about this.
"We've got an awards ceremony to go to. In America. We've got to be at the airport in an hour. I'm sorry about our movie night, we can have one tomorrow."
Her smile slowly faded. Here come the tears. She started screaming and fussing. "Samantha I'm sorry but you're too old for this!"
"You promised a movie night Daddy! You promised! Now we have I go to a dumb awards thingy!"
Tears were pooling down her face. What was I supposed to say?
"Sam, I know I'm sorry! But throwing a fit isn't going to solve anything!"
I went into her room and began to pack her suitcase. I then quickly packed mine. She still kept whining and screaming. I could really feel a headache coming on. I carried Sam and her suitcase into the car. I buckled her in her car seat and went back into the house to get my suitcase. The ride to the airport wasn't long, only about a half hour. When we got there, Sam was still crying.
I spotted the boys immediately. "Hey guys." I sighed.
"Hey Lou, Sam, what's wrong?" Asked Niall.
She just kept crying, not answering. Paps were everywhere. I could see the headline now:
'Louis Tomlinson fails at being father by making daughter throw a fit at airport'
I looked at the boys trying to cheer her up. That's when I had it.
"Samantha Grace Tomlinson stop throwing a fit right now, or you won't come to the awards ceremony with us. I'll make you stay with Tom and Lux but you won't be allowed to play with lux. Stop crying and making a scene right now." I screamed so loud everyone looked at me, including the paps. Sam stopped crying and looked up at me. Almost like she was scared. She ran to Harry and cried into his shoulder. We boarded the plane, everyone still quiet, and Harry carrying Sam. No one had really seen me get that mad before. I'd always been the funny one, always cracking jokes.
The plane ride seemed to be endless. I had a pounding headache. Sam was asleep on Harry. I sighed and decided it was safe to close my eyes. I soon drifted off to sleep.
-
I was awoken by Liam. "Louis wake up! Were here!"
I opened my eyes slowly and started to panic. "Wheres Sam?"
Harry appeared with Sam next to him, holding her hand.
"Daddy, I'm so sorry."
"It's okay Sammy. Come give daddy a hug."
She came over and hugged me tightly. I never wanted to let go.
-
When we got to the hotel I realized it was really late. Well, late for Sam to still be up.
"Time to go to bed Sam!"
I looked over to see she was already asleep. I tucked her in bed.
I sat down on the couch in the hotel. The awards ceremony was tomorrow night. I was a bit nervous to be honest. The boys and I have been on break since Natalie died. We haven't performed in 8 months. I'm sure we'll do fine though.
I pulled out my phone to see I had a text from Harry.
Haz: Hey Lou, so the boys and I are going to Miley's birthday party tonight. You need to get out. There'll be a lot of hot girls there. I already cleared it with Lou and Tom, they can watch Sam.
I thought about it. I hadn't been to a party in ages. I hadn't hit on girls in ages.
Me: What time are we leaving?
Harry had been asking for me to go out on a Friday night with him forever. I always said no, because I wasn't ready to move on. He'll be thrilled I said yes.
Haz: 10 minutes. Lou will be there in 5 to get Sam. Soooo glad you're coming!
I chuckled. I went over to Sam. She was sleeping so soundly. I had to tell her where I was going though.
"Sammy." I whispered.
She slowly opened her eyes.
"I'm going out with the boys. You're going to have a sleepover with Lux tonight. That okay?"
She smiled. Her and Lux got on well. "Yes!!"
"Lou will be here soon to pick you up."
Lou picked up Sam and we said our goodbyes. I new shes in good hands. Moments later the boys were at my hotel room. We were all in the same hotel, so I wasn't too worried about Sam.
"Ready to party?" Harry smirked.
"Yes" I smiled back. It's been too long.
