Caroline froze.

She was the only one standing there, on the dance floor, unmoving, as the people around her continued to dance to the upbeat music blaring through the night.

"Hey, you alright? Why'd you stop?" Kol asked her, taking in her slightly shaken state.

"It's nothing. Just the alcohol taking its effect," she replied, to which Kol nodded.

Klaus seemed to have not noticed Caroline, yet, as he made his way somewhere.

Caroline couldn't let Klaus spoil this party for her, too. She made herself forget that there was a Klaus there as she continued dancing with Kol beside her, mimicking and adding to his moves.

"Do you want to sit down? Have a drink or two maybe?" Kol asked Caroline after a few more minutes, to which Caroline nodded.

"So, what's your sole purpose for letting yourself lose tonight?" Kol asked Caroline as he guided her through the sweaty bodies, dodging the drunk and energetic mass, to the kitchen.

"How do you know that I have a reason to get drunk and dance? Can I just not dance like every other person here?" Caroline asked - almost snapped - hotly, as they reached the kitchen safely.

Kol raised his hands in surrender and said, "Never seen you here, and I'm the co-host."

It was true; Caroline had never been too keen on attending any parties hosted by her schoolmates.

Not bothering to answer Kol, Caroline entered the kitchen, only to see a sight, she thought, that was left which could make the broken pieces of her heart attempt to tear out her chest.

Klaus was with Meredith. Again. And they were talking. And standing close to each other. Too close.

Klaus said something and Meredith laughed. Caroline couldn't even look at his face. All she could think of was: What did Meredith have that she didn't?

It didn't take a genius to figure out what they were doing.

Little did she know that it was not what it seemed like.
