He was an Original, a member of the family of first generation vampires who were precisely 1000 years old. One of the strongest and powerful vampires in this world besides his half-siblings, Rebekah, Elijah, Finn, Freya and Kol.

To challenge him - or to say any Mikaelson - was to have a death wish upon oneself. But, him especially, because he was a vampire-werewolf hybrid, abiding the pros and cons of both the supernatural creatures.
But, even the most respected and feared in this world have something to fear for. In the Original siblings' case, it was Mikael. Their father. A vampire who was a vampire hunter.
Right then, Klaus' shocked expression was more than enough to make out the depth and seriousness of the situation, just as the words left Caroline's mouth.
He looked at Davina and Caroline and almost whispered, "What have you done?"
Davina smirked and Meredith gave her a thumbs up.
The fear bubbling inside Klaus' chest and the urgent need to flee from Mystic Falls was certainly high at that moment. But, what hurt most was the fact that it was Caroline who had taken the drastic decision. It was her, the person who he had cared most for after centuries of bearing betrayal and lies, who had called Mikael. And he would definitely kill Klaus.
"Klaus, I-I swear I didn't knew he was dangerous. I just went to her for help, to make you see that what you did to me was wrong. She said calling your father would help and I believed her! Then she took my blood and did the spell and then when I asked her things, she revealed that Mikael has been wanting to kill you for a long time. I swear on my life, I love you, Klaus, what you did-"
Caroline's explanation was cut off by Klaus. Even in all of that mess, all the unreasonable things Caroline did, he did, Klaus wanted to correct her after hearing her say those words, "I never broke your trust, Caroline. I was never with Meredith. I've always loved you, only you."
The smile on Caroline's face could lighten up all of the Mystic Falls, it seemed. But, it fell as soon as it appeared. A sad look replaced it.
"Klaus, I know I'd die to keep you safe. But, did you even try to find a loophole in their curse? Or a way to protect me? Or did you give up on us?" Caroline's words cut through the silent air and Klaus smirked.
Davina and Meredith looked at him confusedly as Bonnie stepped out from the shadows and Klaus said, "I have a witch on my side, too."
