I quickly arrive at the restaurant. I look through the window of my car and I spot Jake and Jennifer talking and eating their dinner. I get out of my car and approach the front door. I flash my police badge at the usher and he lets me through.

I walk up to the table where Jake and Jennifer are sitting.

"I'm sorry to interrupt your dinner date, but---"

"Laura, what are you doing here?" Jake asks.

"Jake, I need to talk to you."

"Can't it wait? I'm kind of in the middle of something."

"No. Now."

Jake looks back at Jennifer. "Excuse me for a minute." He gets up and follows me to the back room of the restaurant.

"What is so important that you need to talk to me about? Is something wrong?"

"Yeah, something's wrong. I don't like that you are with Jennifer."

"What?!" Jake asks in shock.

"And guess what?" I continue. "Billy told me everything that you planned tonight. He says sorry in advance. But never mind that. What matters is what I came to say and that is this: I am still in love with you."

Jake looks at me in shock.

"Well, its kind of a little too late now."

"I don't care. I regret getting a divorce from you. Jake, I love you."

I then pull his head towards me and meet my lips with his. His kiss was the same as I remember it: soft and full of love. I was surprised that he didn't try to pull away from me. I had finally let go of him and he stared at me.

That was when Jennifer had walked in the room.

"What's going on? Is everything alright?"

I then noticed the ring that was on her left hand. Jake already proposed to Jennifer. I was too late.
