While I planned the funeral for Jake, I also volunteered to find out who stabbed him. I had went and collected evidence from the crime scene, which was all tested for DNA. The knife that was used was the first test result to come in. The DNA of Jennifer Lambert was in the handle of the knife, which was enough evidence to arrest her for second-degree murder.

The day of Jake's funeral soon came. Everyone from NYPD showed up, along with friends and family. It was nice to see everyone, even though they were there for a tragic evening.

After everyone arrived, I walked up to the front of the room to Jake's casket. I looked at Jake inside and immediately started to tear up. It was really hard to see him, laying cold and stiff. I placed my hand on his. "I love you," I whisper. I then walked away and sat down in my seat, waiting for the funeral to begin.

I left the funeral home right after the service concluded without saying goodbye to anyone. I quickly got in my car and drove home. I walked in my house and took off my coat, which I lazily threw on the couch. I go through the kitchen to see Lucy cleaning up dishes from dinner with the boys.

"Hey Lucy," I manage to say.

"Hi. You alright?"

"Yeah, I'm fine."

To be honest, I lied; I wasn't fine. I climbed up the stairs to the room. As soon as I hit the bed, I started to sob into my pillow, thinking about how much I already missed Jake.

Hey everyone! I didn't put as much dialogue in this chapter because I wanted Laura as the narrator to express mostly how she was feeling about the experience of the funeral. Plus, I wanted to put another chapter as soon as possible. If you didn't read what I posted earlier, I am still sad about Mysteries of Laura being canceled. It really doesn't help that I am posting a sad chapter, but I really hope you enjoy it!
