A few months later, the trial for Jennifer Lamber had arrived. I honestly didn't want this day to come. I was still grieving over the death of Jake and I thought I would get upset in court. But I went anyways. Justice needed to be served.

I arrived at court with Max, Bose, and Billy. I needed to have at least one person with me, just in case I needed some comfort. At least I didn't have to testify.

We sat in our seats and the trial began. Jennifer testified, making up a stupid story. She was saying that Jake was trying to attack her and that she had stabbed him in self defense. But everyone knew she was lying.

After about an hour of testimonies, the jury left to make their decision. I walked out of the court room, making sure that no one was following me. I was looking out the window when I felt a hand on my shoulder. I jumped in surprise.

"Don't worry. Its just me," Billy said.

I chuckled. I thought that was funny, yet I thought that nobody was following me.

"Its ok. You just scared me, that's all."

"You doing alright?" he asks.

"Yeah, I'm ok."

I lied. Again. I wasn't ok. Losing Jake had really hurt me so much over the past few months and it didn't help that I had to sit through this trial.

I think that Billy could read my thought because he replied, "No you're not. I can tell. That one look, Laura. I can tell that you are upset."

He could read my expression perfectly, because that was how I felt.

Billy then wrapped his arms around me and pulled me in for a hug. I have to admit, it was nice to get some form of comfort.

"It'll all be over soon. I promise."

"Thank you," I say.

We walk back into the court room to see that the jury had already returned from from making their decision. Honestly, I was nervous. What if things don't go that way they are supposed to?

The head of the jury stands to read the final verdict. "We the jury hereby find Ms. Jennifer Lambert guilty on all counts of second-degree murder."

I couldn't help but smile. Justice had been served after all.
