I immediately rush to the hospital. During the drive there, I kept wondering what was going on. What happened to Jake? How serious is this? He didn't get shot again, did he?

I pull into the parking lot of the New York City Hospital. Bose waits for me at the entrance.

"What's going on?" I ask as we walk through the revolving door.

"Jake was attacked and stabbed in the left side by his stomach area," Bose replies.

"By who?"

"I don't know. I have seen the wound, and it is pretty bad."

Oh, no. I hope Jake survives this. I just got back together with him and everything has to go wrong. I don't want to lose him. I love him too much.

Bose walks me to Jake's hospital room and flashes her badge at the nurse. I do the same.

"How is he?" I ask, knowing that he could possibly die from his wound.

"Not so well," the nurse replies. "He's been unresponsive ever since he got here."

Tears start to come to my eyes. Jake's stab wound is that bad?

"Is there anything you can do about it?"

"Surgeons have started to stitch it, but it is still bleeding."

All of a sudden, the door to Jake's room opens and a surgeon enters.

"We need to take him out so we can finish his stitches."

"Go on ahead," the nurse tells him.

The surgeon and the nurse then start to push Jake and his bed out of the room. I got one last look at him before his disappeared out of my view. It was the last time I might ever be able to see him.

"I love you," I whisper to myself.
