It's not really a long time but it felt like it is. So, what I'm about to tell you was what we've been through. What I'm about to tell you was how it all started.

"Peaches!" I smiled when I saw my best friend - Maya Hart. Her hair was nicely done into a side braid and she was wearing new clothes that Uncle Shawn got her. We fell into each other's embrace and I smelled the fresh air as I did it. Some of Maya's perfume got into my nasal cavity. Musk Blossom.

We were in school, at our lockers to get our stuffs ready before class starts. It was still early and not everyone was there yet.

"Riles! I can't believe it! We're going to high school!" Maya jumped after we hugged, making her golden locks bounce.

Summer is almost near and Maya was excited to take a huge step to high school and I was not. Middle school has been a part of my life and I didn't want to lose it.

"Yeah, but Maya, are you seriously ready to leave all of this behind? I mean this is where we make our memories. This is where we rule. This is our kingdom." I shutted my locker after shoving my books into my brown sling bag. We walked to the classroom side by side as we talked.

"Yeah and we can make new ones in high school." Maya smiled at me, showing her white teeth. She did have a point.

"But I'm not ready to leave them all behind. What if we forgot about them?" I sat at my desk next to Maya's as our three friends entered the classroom. I stared at my best friend with glassy eyes but held them back. I wasn't going to cry there.

"You won't because I'll be there by your side to remind you, in case you did forget." Maya nodded her head while closing her eyes. I swore I could see a speck of silver glitter on both her eyelids. Probably she was doing some artwork back at her place that was hard to come off.

"What are you guys talking about?" Lucas asked while sitting down behind Maya. He was smiling as he tipped his cowboy hat at her.

Zay followed behind Lucas like he was his dad, didn't want to get lost. He just smiled at us and sat at his spot, behind Lucas.

Farkle, he didn't say anything which was sort of unusual but I didn't question it. He was flipping his hair to the side as though as they're covering his blue eyes.

"Oh nothing, just about what will happen when we step into high school." I smiled at him then turned to Maya. We held each other's hands until my dad walked into the class to teach us a new lesson.
