The next day I was fine and fresh, not fully fresh but close to fresh. I bathed at the same hospital. The bruises and scars on my skins were aching after I had my shower but nothing hurts more when you just found out that your best friend was wrapped up like an ancient mummy.
Before showering just now, I ran to the elevator along with mom with Zay leading the way to Maya's floor. My legs were still like jelly so Zay and my mother had to help me walk like an old lady crossing the streets. We reached to Maya's room in about fifteen minutes, counting the time when I fell onto the dirty tiles and hit the walls on every turn.
"Riley..." Lucas gasped when he saw me because I looked like I was beaten up by a group of gangsters. My hair was like the Amazon and my morning breath stinks. But I wasn't going to impress anyone there.
I ran over to Maya's bedside. The doctors left only her nose and lips exposed. They were wired to this machine that helps your heart to pump blood for you to breathe. I couldn't even see her eyes. How should I know if she was awake?
Maya's whole body was wrapped up in bandages except for her thighs, stomach and chest. She was in a patient's attire just like the one I was wearing. He arms were also wired to other machines and the heartbeat monitor was showing that she was still in normal condition. All we had to do was wait for her to get up.
Aunt Katy was there too. And Uncle Shawn. She was sobbing on his shoulder. "I was just about to tell her the surprise.." she trailed off. She was referring to her and Uncle Shawn's wedding. We all knew that but Maya.
Right after she said that, I could feel the cold air hitting my wet cheeks. I hadn't realise that I've been crying. Sobbing. I didn't try to wipe them though. I just wanted to let the pain escape outside of me but it seemed like it won't stop hurting me.
I decided to sit down on the empty chair beside her bed and lay my head onto Maya's bed, facing her.
My nose was jammed, I couldn't breathe through it. My eyes were all misty and my throat hurt like it was going to swell up.
I heard someone said that the doctors had to shave her head bald but it didn't matter to me. Maya was pretty and always will be no matter if she has hair or doesn't.
"Maya.." My voice was shaking. I held her hand which I felt nothing. The white cloth was preventing me from reaching out to her. I couldn't feel our magic touch of ring power. "Thunder." I raised my hand faintly. But there was no response.
