Pair of A Tie

Lassie and I stepped into the sun followed by John. Already in the ring was the giant. He glared at me and the others. I glance back up at him. I gripped my sword. I don't want to fight anymore. But if I quit now what will happen to Griffin, Liam, and Garth? We stood in the ring with the giant. The announcer came out into the ring.

"Hey Lassie what's his name?" I ask. She looks at me.

"His name is Matthew. But everyone just calls him Matt" Lassie explains. I nod showing her I understand.

"How do you know his name?" I ask.

"Like I've said before, I've been in these games for a few years now. You get to know names" Lassie answers.

"Alright everyone. We've been waiting to long. Let's get started. I'll name off the matches..." Matt said." First match is John vs Astaya." When I heard that my heart skipped a beat. That leaves Lassie with...that...Giant!" And our second match up is Lassie vs Shigi."
Lassie looks down with a sorrow filled smile.

"Lassie" I said." You won't win this fight. Back down I don't want to see you get hurt." I tried to look her in the eyes.

"You can't back down unless your master commands it. I'm sorry Astaya, but I've never back down from a fight" Lassie said. She looked up and caught my gaze." Shigi doesn't show mercy to anyone he fights. I'm not coming back from this fight. Can you promise me something Astaya?"

"Of course" I reply.

"When you win please take my daggers and give them to my brother. I'll need them for my last battle but when I'm dead take them" Lassie said.

"I promise, but how do you know you'll die?" I ask. "Isn't there a timer or something that could end the fight?"

"No...these rounds end when someone is unconscious or dead" Lassie said. I look down trying to think of something.

"Hey Can you promise me something Lassie?" I ask.

"Yeah go ahead" Lassie replied.

"Promise me you won't go down without a fight" I said.

"I promise" Lassie said. We both look forward. Lassie looks down. "Heh... your not going to let me die, aren't you?" Lassie asks. I shake my head. She quietly laughs. When her laughs died out, she turned to me. "Thank you Astaya. It's nice to have someone you can trust. Just don't interfere with my match unless I look at you" Lassie said. I nod.

"Alright John and Astaya get into fighting positions. You two, go and wait for your fight" Matt said only talking to us. Lassie nods, walks over to the side of the arena, and into the lower stadium. Shigi walked out of the arena. He looked very annoyed. I turn to John. He gave me a small smile. He walked over to me gripping his sword handle.

"So I guess we're going to have to fight" John said. I looked down and nod, still thinking about Lassie. "You must really care for that girl, don't you?" I nod.

"Even though I just met her today, I feel like we are a 'pair of a tie'. It's a strange feeling" I explained. John nods.

"Well anyways good luck. Just a heads up, I'm not going to lose. Even if your a girl" John said.

"Would you kill me if I kept getting in the way?" I ask.

"I will not kill you and I  hope you will show me mercy like I will for you" John said. I nod.

"Wouldn't think of it" I said giving him a smile. He smiled back. We walk to our sides of the ring.

"So let's go over the rules. You can fight outside of the ring, just stay in this part of the arena. The round will end when your opponent is unconscious or dead. I see you both have weapons. You are allowed to use your weapons as well as any magical powers you possess. Other then those rules, everything goes. Now...ARE YOU READY!" Matt yells to the audience. They cheer. Matt walks out of the line of fire. "Ready...BEGIN!" John runs at me pulling out his sword. He swings his sword at me while I lift up my cased katana with ease to stop his blade." What a block!" Matt narrates. My blade's tip facing the ground. I used my four arm to help so my sword doesn't fly back. John jumps back and prepares himself to attack again. He runs back at me and swings his sword repeatedly. I dodge his attacks while backing up." Wow ladies and gent. Astaya is dodging these attacks at an inhuman speed! This is going to be an interesting fight folks."
