We finished the sword together and then I let the sword clamper on to the worktop. I felt Caspian trail his hands up and down my arms. It made me shiver with pleasure and I knew he could tell. I turned around and lay my hands on his chest. I smirked as I felt him shiver beneath me, I tried to get as close as possible to him just loving the feeling of him touching me.

I felt him lower his head and lean it against mine. We stared into each other’s eyes and I felt loved.  His eyes shone so bright that I felt as if I was swimming in the never ending presence of light.  The light that is contained in a pure soul just seemed to radiate of him which made me doubt if I could ever truly be with him. I knew I wasn’t pure my soul was tainted by the blood of the people I had hurt.

I was interrupted from my thoughts when Caspian kissed my forehead.  A smile lit across my face and I pushed all the previous thoughts out of my head. I deserved a bit of happiness in my life and I wasn’t going to shy away from it because I was afraid of being found out. I didn’t want to keep m y feelings hidden anymore.  I liked Caspian and I truly don’t care what people think about it.

I was too impatient to wait on Caspian to kiss me so I stood as tall as I could and planted a short sweet kiss on his lips. I looked back into his eyes and saw them hungry with need. He bent down and placed an urgent kiss on my lips. His lips moved in sync with mine until he became more and more dominant.

When we broke apart we were both heavily panting and I was comfortable in the arms of Caspian. What had I been missing out all these years?

‘Caspian please don’t leave me.’ I whisper silently.

‘Isadora De Leighton I know you may doubt me but I will never want to let you go. I know how a life without you is and I don’t want to go back to that. I would rather die than loose you again.’  As he said this he tilted my head up so that my eyes were looking into his and I could see the sincerity in what he was saying. The ending though only scared me more, I would never dream of hurting him so much that he would want to die but what if I couldn’t help myself.

I wanted to tell him to stay tonight but I didn’t have the courage to ask. I also knew how weird it would be if he wasn’t back at the palace before morning.  There were but three days before it was time for the ball and I knew that the palace would already being filled by guests who would expect to see their prince.

I watched as Casper walked out the door but I knew it would only be a few hours before we would meet again. Apparently he didn’t want to leave me either so he warned me to expect him early in the morning. We were going to spend the day together and Eve had already scheduled to take Amelia shopping for fabrics for new dresses. I really did try to prevent it but then she started talking about me coming as well and I abandoned Mia to the cruel fate. I dreaded going shopping with Eve because I really wasn’t the girly type and I knew Mia wasn’t either so I was going to give her a little gift before she left.

I felt like me and Mia weren’t getting much time together over the last week and so after I got changed for bed I crept into her room and climbed into bed with her. I watched her eyes flutter open and a smile creep on to her small face.

‘I missed you Mia, mind if I stay here tonight.’

‘I’d like that a lot second mummy and I missed you to.’ My heart just seemed to melt at that point and I watched as she fell back to sleep snuggled into my side with my arms closely circling her.

‘I love you Mia,’ was the last thing I said before I myself slipped into dreamland.

The next morning I was woke by Mia trying to get out of my arms. She apologised for waking me but I assured her that it was perfectly fine and I had to get up anyway. I run a warm bubble bath for the both of us and when we climbed out we both got dressed in free flowing dresses. It was custom to have your hair up but I always thought rules were made to be broken and so I braided the front part of Mia’s hair back and left the rest down in its natural curls, I repeated this step on my own hair before I headed downstairs to prepare breakfast.

I made some apple pancakes and had just sat them on the table whenever Caspian walked in. Mia asked the obvious question on why he was here and he replied that he was going to eat all the pancakes. This must have set of an alarm in Mia’s head because she suddenly lifted a pile and placed them on her plate and started to devour them.

I motioned for Caspian to join us in which he took no time in agreeing.

‘Casper I know there are cooks in the palace so why do you act as if you have never been fed in your life.’

‘I’m a growing man what do you expect.’

‘A growing man that’s a bit of a joke because last time I looked you’re still a boy and have some growing to do.’

‘Is you know I’ve grown and I’m far from a little boy,’ he replied leaning closer to me.

I leaned in even closer and whispered in to his ear. ‘Nope, you’re still a boy.’

‘Break it up you to you are going to scar my little Amelia’s eyes,’ Eve voiced and I jumped back in surprise.

‘Eve I didn’t realise you were here yet.’

‘Iris, I mean Isadora you told me that you and the prince were just friends, my dear you two are most certainly not just friends. We are going to have a serious chat later because now my plans are ruined. I thought I had finally found the perfect match for you, his name is Sir Dalton and he is but a few years elder than us and is in control of the junior regiment. My mother and I had bumped into him the last time we were in Lancton and at first glance he seemed a most pleasant view but he was definitely not my type when we began talking.’

‘Mummy how much more time is Aunty Eve going to talk about Sir Dalton. It is getting really annoying who cares what sort of view he is. I just want to get the shopping over and done with so I can practice my archery skills. I want to be able to do what you told me you did in your story about how you saved that girl from a bunch of guys a couple of weeks before you got me.’

‘We’ll go shopping now and when your older you’ll want to talk about how fine a view your little friend Edmund is. I’m going to have to pry you away from your weapons for a while now so why don’t you get a shawl to keep you warm.’

‘I still don’t see why I would care how fine Edmund is because I’m sure he isn’t ill. So he should be fine then right Caspian.’ We all turned are heads to Caspian who looked like he didn’t have a clue what to say.’

‘Don’t worry about it Amelia, Edmund isn’t sick so I’d say he is perfectly fine.’

Mia got up and Eve put on her shawl. Eve held Mia’s hand and they began to walk out the door. I shouted at them to wait a minute because I had to give something to Mia before they left. I walked towards Mia and when I reached her I unclasped the necklace my mother give me when I was younger, it had been given to her from her mother and so on. I never took of my necklace because it was so special to me so I decided I should follow my mum’s example and give someone I thought was special.

I bent down and clasped it around her small neck and watched as the small detailed heart landed on her chest. I saw the two letters that stood out in the centre, I always wondered what they stood for but I never got the chance to ask my mother. The two letters were YP and I knew they weren’t initials. Mia thanked me and I waved good bye as my best friend and little girl walked out the door.

Now it was time for me and Casper to have some fun the way we did as kids. I didn’t know what Caspian had planned for today but I couldn’t wait.
