Be careful what you ask for,
Sometimes it is exactly what you get

September 12th, 2009

The Super 32 wrestling tournament held in North Carolina in late October, is the most competitive pre-season high school wrestling tournament in the country.

Virtually every quality wrestler in the country makes the trip to Greensboro to prove his mettle.

There are over 160+ wrestlers per weight class and placing (1-8) in this tournament has always been followed with a deluge of attention from most every Division 1 college coach in existence.

This tournament has been on our event calendar for over a year.

It is six weeks away.

In order to attend this event, a major commitment will be needed from both Maverick and Travis and from my wife and me.

Registration for the tournament opens up online in five minutes.

Last year the 2,500 wrestler capacity tournament sold out in only eight minutes.

There is no time to think...

Every rational bone in my body it telling me not to go.

I register the boys for the tournament.

Before I can doubt my decision, I immediately book and pay for hotel reservations and airplane tickets for the three of us.

There is no turning back now.

We are going.

I want both.

I look at the calendar and I plan out weekends for the next six weeks. In order to get the boys in shape for the tournament, it will require four of our next six weekends to be on the road traveling to out of state wrestling tournaments.

On its own, this schedule would be a major commitment; an intense part of the wrestling season. Under the current circumstances, it may require an insane man to pull it off.

I fit the bill as a psycho, so it may work.

I vow only death will stop us from attending the Super 32.
