Wayne:

She is the most beautiful kid on the face of the earth. Before I knew it, Marcel had grown into a woman and left all her childish games behind. She had been such a handful when she was a pup. Martak used to have day round watch on her and she still managed to sneak off and get in trouble. More trouble is coming. I can feel it in my bones.

The way the new king of the vampires looks at her gives me chills and the way she looks back makes me want to take her and lock her away. I want to leave it alone. Either way, this is her decision. If she makes this choice what will become of the two of them? What kind of fight lies ahead?

"Alpha Steele, Alpha Martak," I turned to face the former king.

"What do we call you now if not king?" Martak smiled.

"Kane will suffice," he answered politely. "May I?"

"Of course," Martak said opening the blanket revealing Micah.

"He is beautiful," Jewelry smiled. "Reminds me of the first time I held Kaineth,"

"He looks just like Marcel when she was a pup. It is hard to believe that she isn't this big anymore," Marty sighed heavily.

"Getting sentimental mom?" We both looked over at Marcel and Kaineth making their way to us.

"Just a little but I'm over it," Martak shrugged coldly. Marcel smirked.

"Congrats King Kaineth," I greeted and extended my hand to him.

The boy smiled and took it. As soon as our hands met everything blurred away and I was standing in the meadow where Martak's parents were killed. Marcel is sitting on the floor leaning against the statue surrounded by books on vampires and werewolves. The history of the two.

"Have you found anything?" a voice echoed around me. I turned to see Kaineth walking toward her and then squat down in front of her.

"No, there has to be something though. We can't be the first wolf and vampire to be mated like this,"

I flinched back and found myself looking at my hand and the boy's hand still joined. I slowly pulled back looking at him. He looked back at me confused. I smiled at Marcel who looked at me skeptically. I excused myself and walked outside for some air. There is no way in hell this is happening to my daughter. She can't be the next vampire queen. She's a wolf, not a bloodsucker.

"It's called a truth memory," I turned to find Kane standing behind me. "It happens when the holder of the secret fears the person he is hiding it from. It has to do with respect and admiration. By the look on your face, he mistakenly told you the fearful truth of our children,"

"It's true?" I asked.

"Yes,"

"And you still gave him the throne?" I growled. "Aren't you putting him in danger?"

"No," he sighed. "My son adores your daughter, Wayne. Give her the title and have them arrange something that will bind all of us. To keep them safe. To keep us all safe,"

"You want us to make it look like a deal,"

"Do you have a better idea?"

"Our side will never believe that. We don't do things like that to our pups,"

"My queen and I are not mates either,"  he said. "We have kept it a secret for a very long time but I am trusting you with this because we will be family soon,"

"You're okay with my daughter being a werewolf?"

"Of course not," he chuckled. "But my boy would kill us all if it meant staying at her side. Many think that because we have fangs we are cold at heart. There are times when I wish that were true. My senses and feeling are amplified which mean that my love for my children is greater than anything this world can offer,"
