Bruno Mars- Money Make Her Smile
Marcel:
Watching the outline of my new little brother one the ultrasound screen is making me really excited. My mom and dad's eyes are glued to the screen just like my own. I could see the kick bumps as he kicked inside of her belly. I placed my hand on the bump and he began to kick out even more almost as he were acknowledging me. Like he's as excited as I am.
"I'm right here little, buddy," I whispered to the belly kneeling down closer to my mom.
"Alphas, he is strong," Aunt Sally said. "Just like Marcy was,"
"Dude, you and I are going to get in so much trouble together," I whispered and he kicked out harder almost like he was agreeing with me.
"No, you're not," Dad growled lifting me up like I was some pillow on the floor.
"He'll never know, buddy," I called out as he threw me over his shoulder. "Never ever,"
"You guys are crazy," mom laughed.
"Come on, kid. We have alpha stuff to do. Mom needs to take a nap," I looked over at mom wanting to stay. Her eyes do look drowsy as she cleaned the blue jelly of her belly.
"I'll see you later, mom. Bye little buddy. I'll see you soon," Dad dumped me on the chair on the opposing side of his desk where my laptop and books were set up from training.
"So, I have news for you, kid," he said as I opened up my laptop.
"Hit me, daddy," I said leaning back.
"Mom, against everyone's, wished as usual set up a meeting with the vampire king and since you are our very own little goth cutie. Mom wants you to be there when we meet him and his son,"
I looked down at my combat boots and fishnet stockings. My parents had always disapproved of what I like to wear. Well, my dad disapproves. My mom kind of dresses like an anime school teacher and likes that I am my own person.
I have this weird fascination with vampires. It might have to do with me reading my mom's collection of Anne Rice and J.R. Ward books. So, meeting actual fangs is a major deal for me. I'm sure she had promised my dad something big if he's letting me do this. Mom thinks we should break bread with the vampires to continue to have peace. I couldn't agree more. My dad, on the other hand, thinks this is more dangerous than when they took on the alliance.
"Are you sure?" I asked. "You were a little upset the last time I suggested it,"
"If it were up to me I would have found a way to keep you the cute little baby that you were and never let the world lay eyes on something as beautiful as you are. Your mother, however, thinks you're more than ready to be present during alpha meetings. Her argument starts with her taking over the pack at your age and if I say something to deny either of you anything she cries," Dad is so easy.
"Okay, well I'm just making sure. I don't want her to stress out like the last time. I didn't mean to upset you or for you to upset her,"
"It's not our fault, baby, it's her hormones," he laughed. "When she was pregnant with you I slept on the floor next to her for the last month of the pregnancy. She couldn't stand looking at me but she couldn't stand it when I was too far away either,"
"Wow," I laughed.
"Hey guys," we all turned to look at Jay walk in with a bag of Doritos in his hands.
"What's good?" I smiled at him as he sat next to me. I took a handful of chips from his bag as he glared at me.
Jay and I are cousins. He is going to be my beta one day. When we were little he convinced me that my dad was Batman and we would always get in trouble spying on my dad trying to find his "Batcave". Turns out our parents have a Batopening where my grandparents were killed. It's a greenhouse we just call it the Batopening because it sounds cool.
"Has your dad briefed you?" my dad asked.
"Yes, Fangtopia here we come," my dad smirked at him and went back to the paperwork in front of him. A request form. The expression on his face told me he was contemplating on saying no. I had written the request up myself.
"That is actually in all of our best interests, Dad. If Carly opens up a pup daycare all the babies that are beginning to walk and start potty training will be able to learn together. I think it'll bring the next generation closer and we have a babysitter for a reasonable price,"
"You sound like Alpha Martak," Jay snorted flipping through one of my notebooks.
"Where would this be set up?" Dad asked.
"The old medical sanctuary was just remodeled and no one has use for it yet," I said reaching for Jay's chips he moved them away from me as I got closer to them.
"That's right," he said looking me over. "He's right. You are good at this,"
"So, dad..."
"So, dad is usually followed by yes, baby girl. You can go. Which is followed by Martak shouting I can't believe you two would do something like this," we all laughed.
"We have tickets to see Twenty One Pilots on Friday. I was just wondering if you can let me borrow the car,"
"Oh," he said sighing off on the paper. "Yes, baby girl,"
Jay and I escaped my dad's office laughing because we all know what comes next. Mom.
