The Light Witch

A New Member

Charlotte stared in aw at the capital building of the city as the Witch agents walked ahead. The agents looked back at her.

"You coming?" They asked. Charlotte shook her head to stay focused.

"Yeah" she replied. They were greeted by guards who stood waiting at the door.

"May I take your coat?" One of them asked holding out his hand. No way, they even had servants. Charlotte was getting excited. She handed the man her coat and followed the witches who led her through a wide hallway with rooms that had some sort of event going on.

"Here we are" said the black haired one and pushed open the door where a man was sitting at a desk writing with a stack of documents on the side. The man didn't look up from his paper.

"Yes Simon?" He asked sounding bored. The two witches straightend.

"We have the girl" they said in unison. The man looked up from his paper and his eyes met with Charlotte's. She glanced away. He gave a crooked smile.

"Great, let's begin the Exam" he said standing up and walking over to them.

Charlotte swallowed. "Right now? But I-." The man held up his hand to silence her.

"You want to become one of us don't you?" He asked smugly looked down at her. Charlotte couldn't help but nod.

They took her down to the court yard where everyone from the inside could watch. "Alright Charlotte show us what you got" said Lewis where the judges stood. Charlotte had to hit a target, but with what? She has no power.

The judges patiently waited she could the stares of everyone. Charlotte took a deep breath and concetrated she went into fighting position then put all her force in snap. Nothing happened. The judges whispered to each other. Charlotte felt tears welling in her eyes. No, focus. Before she could try again a boy ran right infront of her, surprised Charlotte snapped and lightning shot out of her hand and hit the target blowing it into pieces. Everything was silent.

Lewis was slowly clapping. "Looks like we found a new member of the angency." Charlotte stood there in shock, apparently she did have a power. She straightened up and acted like it was normal. The boy stared at her in awe.

"That was amazing! Mark was right, you do hold strong powers!" He said jumping up and down. Charlotte blinked.

"He knew about this? Why didn't he tell me?" She asked.

The boy smiled and ran up to her. "That's just how he is, I'm Adrian by the way" he said holding out his hand expecting her to shake it.

"Charlotte" She replied as she walked away.
