GRAPHIC (just a forewarning, sorry)
My senses were the first things to come back to me. My eyes still being to heavy to open, I just listened to the events around me. There wasn't much, I could hear people moving around downstairs; plates being placed on the table and the extractor fan buzzing suggested that food was being made.
I took a few moments to recall why I was at home, in bed, and how on earth I got to this moment of time. 19:52, the time glowing from my alarm clock. How long was I sleeping for? And more importantly, why was dinner so late?
Still dazed with confusion, I trudged down the stairs; following the off putting smell of burning directly to the source. It was Gio.
Of course.
I observed the kitchen scene only briefly before I tried to retrace my tracks as quietly as possible to the front door. Thankfully, my feeble attempts were successful due to the unbelievably loud racket that Gio was making with the cupboards and getting items set out for dinner along with the buzz of the ventilator.
I swiftly grabbed a pair of white converse trainers that were lying next to the front door and left, running towards my dads car, which would hope full go unnoticed.
Tomorrow was a bank holiday, thank the lord, so I won't have to worry about having to be back early. Whilst running over ideas on what to do with such a wonderful opportunity of a lie in for the next morning, I rolled the car out of the driveway before starting the engine and driving to the only place I knew I could sit for countless hours and blare music so loudly that the car would shake without disturbing any locals; the promenade.
Pulling into a parking space was easy, seeing as there were only three other cars occupying the parking lot, and all vehicles were empty. I was alone.
Sliding my phone out of my pocket, I plugged it into the stereo and put it on shuffle, Tove Lo automatically coming on. Sitting back in my chair, I started to scroll through my Facebook homepage aimlessly when someone popped up.
Most certainly unexpected, it was a guy that I had used to be friends with until I split off from his group of people. Mike was nice and all, it was just odd that he'd pop up after so many years, and it was definitely unanticipated that he would invite me to his house party tonight.
I replied with an simple yes and he followed with the details of tonights happenings. I wasn't too keen on going alone, so I text Gio of all people. There was just something about him that made me feel safe.
After fifteen minutes, I pulled out of the car park and drove back home, where I would have hopefully missed the burnt dinner that I had escaped from only half an hour earlier.
They were all in the front room when I came in. I signalled Gio with a nod and carried on up the stairs, taking note of Gio climbing up the stairs on his hands and knees behind me.
He was an odd one.
"So who's party is it?" he asked once we were safely in my room.
"Oh, an old friend of mine. He's okay with you coming, no need to stress about being unwelcome. He did mention that I could bring as many people as I liked." I replied as I searched my wardrobe for something that seemed fitting for a house party with a bunch of people that I didn't fit in with anymore. I was sure that most of the people attending the party would be into heavy metal an such, seeing as they would be friends of Mikes I gathered that they would all come from the same sort of social group.
I ended up in a black shirt and blue jeans. Gio slipped into my room wearing a grey fitted T-shirt and black skinny jeans with black converse. He would fit into this party more than I would. I sighed as I struggled to put my black Dr. Martians on and lace them up tight. I applied a coat of bright red lipstick in an attempt to send a message; I was not looking to get any action tonight.
