Chapter 1: The Cave of Miracles

This Chapter is told by the POV of Devin

I'm running through the woods as smoke pours from devices falling from the sky, tree branches break and fall all around me from the devices smashing into them. All around me the earth is going to hell. I hear a low buzzing that is rapidly getting louder until it becomes deafening, I turn and look up seeing a carrier plane falling out of the sky straight towards me about to crash, I try to run then realize that I can't outrun a plane. I turn and quickly release a huge bolt of electricity from both palms striking the plane and instantly blowing it up.

The explosion sends me flying backwards. I feel a warm rush of water engulf me and realize I landed in a pond. I swim to the edge of the pond and pull myself out of the water. There is smoke covering the ground now just creeping along like a wave. I begin to run and hear shouting in the distance. I run faster to find the noise, and stumble upon a small boyscout campsite. I stop dead in my tracks and throw up at the scene. All the boys and the counselor have blood dripping from their eyes and ears. I wipe my mouth and run up to one of the boys and check for a pulse. Nothing.

I take off running even faster now and cant see a thing through to smoke. I pump my legs as fast as I can, faster, faster, faster, then thwack! I run straight into a tree and fall back. The world around me starts spinning and I begin to black out. Before losing all consciousness I see a dark figure standing over me.

I don't remember waking up but I am sitting in a chair in my living room. I don't remember anything about how I got there or about the smoke or anything.

"Hey Devin" Antonio says taking a seat on the arm of the chair "How's it going?"

"What's going on? How'd I get back here? Where's everybody else?" I stammer out panicked

"Everybody else? Is there supposed to be more people coming? You invited me over to kill this pig with you for a banquet" he says pulling a pig out of seemingly nowhere

"Where'd you get that pig?!" I shout really confused

"Satan gave it to me" he replies then points to a red skinned man with horns and a T-shirt that has a picture of Hitler on it

"Sup?" Satan says nodding at me. The entire room begins to spin and change colors and my head hurts and my body begins melting away to nothing. I become just a head bouncing around a bowling alley hitting giant people made of pins. They reform and surround me chanting something in another language before reaching out and grabbing me.

I awake looking around me and see nothing but rocks and puddles. As if I'm in a cave.. I sit up slowly and look closer at my surrounding. I'm definitely in a cave. I stand up and begin stumbling around in the dim light of a fire in the middle of the ground. While wandering around I wonder about the strange dream and everything that happened. What had happened to Antonio and Steven. Where is everybody? What was that weird gas. And those campers... I manage to find the entrance to the cave and wander outside. I am blinded by the harsh light that is surrounding me now. When my eyes adjust I stumble back and fall because of the sight in front of me. There is ash and fallen trees and bodies everywhere

"Its awful isn't it?" Says a voice behind me. I turn then choke on my own breath at seeing who the talker is

"But you're.. you're" I stammer out beginning to cry

"Its ok. I'm alive. We're ok Devin" Beth says wrapping her arms around me "everything will turn out fine"

"What happened to you?!" I shout hugging her tighter than ever before

"I woke up in this weird lab with no memories of who I was or what was going on, there were dead bodies all around me. I believe it was a morgue, but it wasn't for long. A minute or two after gaining consciousness a huge explosion blew up the building sending me flying out with all the debris. I landed a long ways away missing my arm and leg, and was impaled with a long metal rod. While there I remembered being shot in the head. I remember you and everybody else still in the lab. I felt a tingle in the stump that was once my arm and looked over at it. Something amazing was happening. I pulled myself off of the rod and looked down at the gaping hole in my stomach... and.. well.. look for yourself.." she said and walked over to the fire and pulled out a burned sharp stick and held it in front of her stomach

"Beth wait! What are you doing!" I yelled in attempt to stop her madness, but it was too late. She jammed the stick through her stomach and out her back. I ran toward her and caught her from falling

"Watch.. this.." she coughed out while choking on her own blood. She grabbed the stick again and in one movement yanked it out. I looked in shock as the hole from the stick began closing itself before disappearing entirely. "Guess you're not the only special one in this relationship are you?" She said smiling
