This chapter is told by the POV of Antonio
We keep running and running until we hit the highway leading right into the city. There are tons of crashed cars and trucks everywhere. I can't help but wish Devin hadn't left. He was the only one of us that could easily fix one of these cars with his powers
"Hey guys?" Oliver says over by a pile of cars that were hit by a semi "I have an idea" He rummaged through the rubble and scavenges four tires. He find two large metal rods and attaches them to the tires
"Alright dude! You're a genius! Give me a second" I say and shove my hands into the ground and pull out a large chunk of rock, I shove it on top of the wheels and hop on. The others do the same and I use my powers to lift the ground behind us sloping the highway so we roll down it until we get to the city
"Alright guys, be careful. You don't know what we'll come across here" Forest says and walks slowly into the street. Not two steps in and a boy appears in front of us out of thin air
"Where's Steven?" he says in his raspy voice, it sounds like he has a bad case of strep throat
"Who are you? And how do you know Steven?" I ask taking a step forward to greet him or beat him, depending on his answer. I notice he has a small circular scar on his forehead, like a hole had crudely closed up and healed over time. He has a face that reminds me of somebody but I can't place my finger on it
"I'm the resurrected child. I'm going to kill Steven where he stands. Now again, where is he?" the boy asks again. I get ready to fight him when Beth walks past me and punches him straight in the nose breaking it with a loud crunch
"Nobody is killing Steven, especially not a loser like you" she says and pushes him on his ass. He turns invisible and I hear footsteps running away from us, guess he isn't as tough as he thought
"That was awesome, Beth!" Oliver says patting her on the back
"Touch me again and you're getting the same treatment as him" she says then resumes walking. I can't help but smile at that then continue walking after patting the confused Oliver's shoulder
"Hey, so that's one of the guys you saw kill that group of people?" I ask Forest
"Yeah, he was. He stays by the hockey mask guy most of the time" he replies
"Alright then, lets go find Devin and them, any clue where this machine maniac would be?" I ask him and he shakes his head, this guy is no help. We walk some more and eventually spot another person hurriedly going into a building across the street. Me and Forest exchange glances and he shakes his head but I swiftly follow the boy anyway leaving the group behind. As I enter the building I am met by a metal pipe swinging at my head, just barely slow enough for me to duck under it. I turn and smash my fist into the face of the guy who attacked me. Only its not a guy
"Oww! You can't hit a girl!" the girl yells holding her face
"Yes I can, and I will again if you don't give me Kelly back!" I shout
"Kelly? Wait, Antonio?" Selena shouts astonished then hugs me tight
"Oh my god, I'm so sorry!" I say hugging her back
"It's ok, I shouldn't have tried to hit you with a pipe so... Anyway, come with me, your friends are in here" she says walking off
"Hey give me a second" I say and open the back door of the building back up "guys come on, Devin and them are in here!" I shout and Beth comes bursting through the door looking around for Devin then sees Selena and almost breaks down in tears
"I never thought I would see you again, I have missed you so much!" she says hugging Selena tightly "Is everyone else ok too? Olive? Samantha? Courtney?"
"Olive and Samantha are in the other room with Devin and the others. Jack's there too. Courtney didn't make it this far, she was killed by this tiger some guy in a leather jacket and hockey mask had on a chain" she says looking heartbroken
"Selena, I'm so sorry, I know how it feels to lose a loved one, I lost Devin once, I'm never letting that happen again" she says hugging her again
"Ok come on" I say and walk past them into the next room
"Antonio!" Steven shouts from across the room
"Steven!" I shout back happy to see him "Where's Devin?"
"He's in the so called operating room with Tano Tano. The machine maniac" Levi says next to me
"Can I see him?" I ask back
"Yes" Tano Tano says stepping into the room from the alternate doorway. Holy shit, he's so old
"Really?!" Beth exclaims rushing past him. I follow behind her and am almost as terrified at the scene before me as she is. Devin is laying unconscious on a wooden table with a saw and two huge hunks of metal next to him. His arms are covered with cuts and slices and missing chunks here and there, and wherever there are parts of his arms missing, there are wires sticking out every which way
"What have you done to him?!" I shout at Tano Tano
"I am simply preparing him. He needs to be able to send electric signals to the fingers and wrists, and can't do that without the proper circuitry" Tano Tano explains calmly. I begin to calm down as I realize that he is making sense
"There you are Steven!" a raspy voice says from the other room. You have got to be kidding me. I rush into the other room only to see Jessica pinning the invisiboy to the wall by his neck using her forearm
"Should I kill him?" she asks completely serious then looks around at everyone's faces "No? Really?"
"Too late, because now I know where you are staying and I'll be back with others. We will destroy you Steven" he says and spits in Jessica's eyes causing her to loosen her grip. The man breaks free of her and turns invisible then a window to my right shatters from the inside out and I know he's gone
