Chapter 1 Familiar

"First day as seniors feels weird. Doesn't it Em?" I ask my best friend but she didn't answer,instead I look over to the direction of her gaze. He turns to meet my gaze. I can feel my pulse almost stop as soon as I see his eyes. They're as black as coal but they have this sparkle in them and it feels like I can't look away . That is until...

"Hey Em, uhh hi Liz." I look up to find Blake O'Connor slightly blushing.

"Hi Blake." I said knowing my voice sounded nervous. I had liked him since middle school and every time i see him, it's like the someone punches me and I'm overcome with the feeling of lacking oxygen. There was heat coming from my cheeks I knew I was blushing, before he noticed i put my head down.

"Sorry to interrupt Blake. Liz, Dan just got here. He's over by the window. See you at lunch." And with that she walks away. I decide to look up and Blake is smiling at me. Usually i am not the type that is shy because I'm pretty outgoing but Blake just does something to me that has me acting like a five year old. "You know, Dan is so darn lucky to have Em.

"Are actually jealous of him Blake?" I ask curiously.

Well yeah, I mean pretty much of every guy on the football team. Im the only one with no girlfriend, and it really sucks because at the games they all get cheered for so I'm the single loser.

Blake, you know I try to go cheer for you but.." suddenly a shadow appears over me and i glance up. Surely the guy with the dark eyes is looking at me. He nods toward the empty seat next to me "Is that seat taken?" He has a deep accent but I cant tel. I feel something familiar about him,but before this day, I had never seen him in my life.

"Ummm,no. I mean the seat isn't taken." I realized my voice sounded shaky the way it sounds when I'm being questioned by my mom.

"May I sit here then?" he asks with a pleased look.

"Sure. This is your first year here isnt it?" I ask trying to sound polite.

"Yes, it is. I'm liking it so far." he says meeting my gaze and smiling. He has a set of perfectly white teeth. "My apologies, i haven't introduced myself. My name is Alexander VonFerdinal." Extending his right hand.

"Im Elizabeth Daniels but everyone calls me Liz. This to my left is my...my friend Blake.

O'Connor. Blake O'Connor." Blake interrupts. And he takes Alexanders hand when clearly the hand shake was for me. I look at him and give him a 'what the hell' look but he just shrugs. "Are you thinking of joining the football team?" He asks him with a mocking look, and I know at that moment something is going on between them but it doesn't look to be anything good.

"Actually I am. I was quiet a great player back in Europe. Though I doubt being better than you Americans.." Alexander seems to be mocking Blake now. Im about to ask him what he meant back in Europe but Im interrupted. "Mr. VonFerdinal, I just got an e-mail that your  schedule has been changed. Please come up here to get a hall pass. The office will give you the new one." Mr.Danson our homeroom teacher says.

"Guess I'll see you guys later." He says and walks up to the front of class.

"Why did you take the handshake?" I ask, I knew my voice sounded a bit irritated.

"Well i thought the handshake was for me. Sorry if it seemed rude." blake says trying to seem innocent but I know better. He was actually jealous of this Alexander guy. Part of me felt flattered but it seems a bit odd of him to get worked up about some new guy. How did Alexander make him feel this way? I knew better,asking wouldn't help so this was going to stay unanswered."Liz are okay? you just stared into space.

Shit. Sorry,you know I space out way too much. So hows the term paper going?" we had been assigned a term paper describing our family tree and crap for the whole summer So it was totally trashed and ruined by it. I only had about half of it typed up. My parentals were not very helpful, they avoided my questions about our ancestors as much as possible.
