The rain poured down in the small town of Wilton, New Hampshire. It had been like this for several days now, and to be honest, it was getting really annoying. He sat there in the trees watching as two girls tried to make their way across the highway without getting hit, or drenched. The boy chuckled ever so slightly. He didn’t know who they were at the time, but they must have worked for the same place or something, seeming as they were both wearing the same uniform. He chuckled again.
“What could they possibly be trying to do?” He wondered out loud.
The two girls tried to cross again. This time, they managed to time it just right. The one problem. Where in the world were they headed? The only thing across the highway were trees and a river. So what is going on? The kid squinted hard to see if i could see anything out of the ordinary about the two. Nothing really, to be honest. Two tall, slender teenage girls walking around on a rainy day. But that wasn’t really what I was hoping to find. All he wanted was a reason to go and ask why they were headed onto restricted land. And then, he found his opening. The symbol on their uniforms. He almost fell from the tree.
“Kiyoko-chan. Are you sure about this? I have this nagging feeling like we’re being watched.”
“Don’t worry Sara. It’s fine. The director said that we should find some of the bits here. I trust him. Don’t you?”
“Well yeah, but still what about us being watched.. that is a probability isn’t it? I mean, as a member of the Akari we have to be careful right?”
“True, But I highly doubt it,” she sighed in frustration.
The two continued to walk in silence until, eventually, they came upon a clearing with a river running through it.
“Hey Kiyoko-chan!? Are we lost again?”
“How many times do I have to tell you?!? We’re not lost, we’re... blazing new trails!”
Sara opened her mouth to shout a nasty retort, but nothing ever came out for at that moment, the ground began to violently shake. As soon as it began, it ended, an when Kiyoko and Sara both opened their eyes, the thing they were both expecting stood before them. One of The Iocus’ humanoid warriors. A tall, grotesque mix of wires and mechanical parts to make a deadly killing machine.
“Humanoid type huh? Piece of cake. And there’s only one too,” Kiyoko muttered.
“HAHAHAH!!!!” It howled in a raspy voice, “So, Akari are here too? Oh goody! It just became even more fun! And so pretty, too. Pity I have to kill you! HAHAHAHAHA!!”
“Yeah right. You won’t lay a greasy finger on us!” Sara shouted.
“Feisty now? How about this?”
At that moment, the humanoid let out a loud screeching noise, and the ground began to shake once more.
“Shi...!”
“Reinforcements!!! ATTACK!!!”
Several humanoid units came forth from the ground, and began to fire their weapons on the two, while twenty or so air units began to fire everything they had.
Kiyoko was first to move drawing her katana, she leapt forward to block the oncoming projectiles. Simply deflecting one was one thing, but an entire sea of them? Now that’s incredible if you can do that, and somehow, she did exactly that. Landing in the river, she instantly raced for the main controller, only to be blasted back by a sonic attack. At this, Sara drew her own weapon, and jumped into the air. With deadly accuracy, she threw her weapon like a spear and skewered several of the drones, causing them to explode in mid-flight.
Working as one, they both bought themselves more time, but it wasn’t enough, for every time them came close to success, more drones would appear.
This is hopeless. This is it. This is where it ends for us both. Sara thought to herself.
Another endless wave of bullets and drones attacked then at high speeds. Kiyoko closed her eyes, and Sara cringed for what was about to come as the humanoid cackled in the background.
The end...
Sara frowned. Was she dead? If so, where was the pain? And why could she still hear everything. The River, the wind, the rain. Was she somehow still alive?
She slightly opened her eyes for a quick peak, expecting to see the humanoid’s cannon to her head. But that’s not what she found. She found herself looking at a boy, holding them both to the ground. Shielding them. He was tall, slim, wore a white scarf, an aviator’s jacket, jeans, and an eye patch over his right eye. And then he...smiled?
The boy rose to full height and turned his attention to the shocked(At least it looked like it) humanoid. He chuckled softly. The boy opened his mouth to say something silly like “good evening there,” but the robot got his words out first.
“HOW DARE YOU!! You half witted idiot! Why did you interfere? I was going to have fun killing them!!!”
“Isn’t that comment a bit redundant? I mean, ‘You half witted idiot.’ That sounds like you’re saying the same thing twice there.”
“OH SHUT UP!!”
“Actually, I think it’s time that you do. If you were even as strong and evil as you claim you are, then why aren’t I dead? And to add to it, why aren’t they? Hmmmm?”
“Oh trust me. You will die. Along with all of those that stand in the way of The Iocus!”
He simply smiled at that.
“Well then. Let’s get started, shall we?”
Everything surrounding them charged, and all the drones began to shoot.
“Crystal of the heavens,” the boy muttered, “ ACTIVATE!”
Just then, Kiyoko came round.
“What? I’m not dead? Sara! What happened?”
Sara just stared, and then pointed into the sky. Kiyoko followed the gaze. It was...
“...A boy?”
The stranger sailed through the air with blinding speed, and wherever he pointed his arm, a robot would explode.
What was that on his arm? What was flying out of it? Whatever it is, it’s huge!
Kiyoko blinked for a moment, and was surprised at what she saw. Within the seconds her eyes were closed, all the drones were destroyed, and the mystery boy was standing in front of them once more. Kiyoko looked him over. He appeared to only be about her age. Who was he? Kiyoko looked around again.
How could he possibly have destroyed them all?
“How foolish of you. You really thought that you get away with killing these people?” his voice boomed.
“Well, you seem to have a large ego, don’t you. You stupid child,” the battered robot crooned.
“Shut the heck up,” And he raised his weapon, which appeared to be a rather large gun, a blasted it’s head off.
He turned his left side towards me and Sara, and looked at us. They weren’t entirely sure what he did after that because both of them were blacking out, but he seemed to smile, and then wave slightly. And then they lost consciousness.
