'twas the day. friday. i was going to meet vernon. it felt so surreal, to be honest. even with not being a big seventeen fan, i was excited to the point where there was no way of getting my heart to stop hammering against my chest.
luckily, i had a day off from school that day.
i stood before my mirror, examining my outfit one last time before i left my house. i had to wear something quite casual, considering i had to lie about being stuck in a plane for a few hours, flying from malaysia to korea. therefore, i wore a simple pair of tight jeans and a black, loose crop top, along with simple makeup and a messy bun to show i probably fell asleep in the plane ride.
like the stupid little shit that i am, i agreed to letting vernon pick me up from the airport, so i literally had to take a ten mile bus ride to the airport just to be picked up. but i mean, i was getting picked up by vernon, so i wasn't much bothered by it.
i practiced my reaction once more in the mirror before grabbing my purse and my phone and leaving my house. i had told my parents i was going out to yejin's house, which was nothing unusual, so there was no way they could have said no. they knew we were best friends. i felt quite bad for lying, though.
shortly after i arrived to the bus stop, the bus came to pick me up. i took a seat closest to the door, and slid my phone out to message vernon.
wait, shit, i thought, he thinks i'm still on the plane. what am i going to do until one-thirty?
i couldn't text vernon, which disappointed me a bit. he and i had become extremely close, and texting frequently became a normal thing for us.
instead, i decided to just play goat simulator on my phone until i reached my destination: gimhae international airport.
it wasn't long until i arrived, thanks to the clear roads. i quickly rushed out and made my way inside, trying to avoid anyone that could be vernon. i was unsure if he was there already or not, but i just got a weird feeling in me that he was.
i managed to make my way to the area where the malaysia to korea plane was, and fortunately, without any sign of vernon. to hide, i crouched down behind a trash can. looks just like me, i thought.
minutes later, i went to check the time on my phone: 1:28 pm. i also saw that i had gotten a message on kakaotalk from vernon.
vernun: almost at the airport !! hope u had a good flight homie g cous
haeryass: just arrived at korea B)
vernun: omg ok im wearing a mask to hide from fans js
haeryass:

vernun: kill urself
smiling to myself like an idiot at my own meme and his reply, i got up from behind the trashcan and happily trotted over to a bench nearby.
i'm fucking meeting vernon, were the words that repeated in my mind.
i never expected the fake twitter account to become such a big thing. but, now look at me: meeting seventeen's vernon as his cousin.
"haera! haera! where art thou haera?!" i heard a somewhat familiar voice exclaim. despite my state of almost being unable to even move, i managed to pop up from my seat and scan the area until i saw the tall, brunette guy with a white mask on.
this is it, this is it!
"cousin!" i called. he immediately turned to my direction, and by his eyes, i could tell he was smiling. i ran over to him and stopped only a foot in front of him, acknowledging the fact that he probably didn't want me to touch him. i wasn't educated on how celebrities work, but i just assumed they didn't want to be touched by commoners.
i was wrong, however.
my legs became weak when he pulled me into a large hug. "oh my god! this is so exciting!" he chimed as he pulled away, leaving his hands gripping my shoulders. "you're so short!"
he was right; the height difference between vernon and me was almost a foot.
"maybe you're just tall." i stuck out my tongue but then furrowed my eyebrows. "wait, that's a good thing. and a lie." i was also feeling quite awkward about standing in the middle of an airport, talking to a tall, good-looking, masked guy, but i didn't pay too much attention to that.
he laughed and eyed my surroundings, raising a brow. "where are your bags and your passport?"
shit, i forgot about that.
to save me some time to think of an excuse, i simply said a joke. after all, it was nothing new. "i threw them out the window." i shrugged.
his eyes widened. "what?! why?!"
i shot him a hard glance. "you dumbass! i was kidding! i can't believe that you actually believed me." i sighed, crossing my arms on my chest. my normal self was finally crawling its way out. "i gave them to my parents, a-k-a your aunt and uncle."
"aunt and uncle?! where?!" he exclaimed, turning his neck left and right. "i want to meet the fam!"
"calm down. they left immediately to start moving into the house," i lied. i didn't want to get much into the topic of family, so i quickly changed the topic. "anyways, so, where are we gonna go?!" i asked excitedly.
he thought for a minute. "hmm.. how about like the movies or something?" he suggested.
i rolled my eyes. "i think we'd get kicked out, considering we're so lively, loud and energetic. plus, there are no good movies out now."
"well, since we're so lively, loud and energetic, how about a fair?! are there any fairs going on?" he asked.
"actually, there is!"
he happily raised his hands in the air, showing his mutual feeling of glee. "alright, then, let's go!"
