Chapter 15 By your side

Kayla's Pov

I was sitting at home waiting for Buck to get back with the car since we haven't gotten me a new one yet, I'm having to share with Buck, I want to go over to the Curtis place, then go over into soc territory to see Jessica, Josie and Dean. I love them so much especially little Josie, I can't believe what Soda is doing though he isn't even taking care of Josie and she is his kid, I mean she looks like Jessica with her hair and all the light brown in it, but she has Soda's eyes, his smile his natural good looks, I mean she gets the natural good looks from her mom too because her mom has those natural good looks too. I just hope Soda can figure out a way to pay child support, it's only fifty dollars a month, I think he could afford that. If he can't at the moment he could pick up a few extra shifts a week at the DX and easily afford it and besides they could use the help. I support Jess in this situation though and not because she's my best friend but because she does have a kid by Soda and she should support it Josie in some way. I feel that Jess is doing the right thing as a mother. It is good that she is making Soda pay child support, no she doesn't need the money but he should pay something for Josie I mean he did help make the kid, and he treated Jess like crap afterwards so she left. I know Soda didn't mean to treat her like he did, he probably had a lot going on with a baby at home, I know he did. I also know the real Soda and he has a heart of gold he'd give anybody the shirt of his back, so i think that he will find a way to pay the child support. I heard Buck's car pull up, so I got up and grabbed my brown leather jacket similar to Dally's but mine had Dally's Girl written on the back in baby blue letters, and it has a skull bellow the letters. I love this jacket he got it made for me a few days ago. I walked outside and Buck handed me the keys as he came up the stairs.

"Where ya headed?" he asked me.

"I'm going over to the Curtis's then over to Jess's."

"Ain't she a soc now?"

"Yes, well sort of she still has her friends round here, she didn't forget where she came from." he nodded and went inside he isn't one to say many words. I hopped into the car, the top was down so i didn't bother opening the door. I turned the ignition and the engine came to life, I left and got to the Curtis house in exactly three minutes that's a new personal best. It's at least ten minutes away, i normally drive it in five, but there was hardly any traffic out plus the fact that I drive like a maniac. I"m not as bad at driving as Dally is but I'm not much better either. I walked into the Curtis house the only people there was Pony and Two-Bit, Johnny would have been right there by Pony but we all know he isn't here with us anymore it's just hard getting used to him not being around. I can only imagine how Pony must feel, I mean he watched Johnny die and so did Dally, it hit them both hard. It hit all of us hard even Darry, Johnny was like everyone's pet he was the gang's pet we all loved him even Dally did. I took a seat on the couch the same couch that Johnny had sat on so many times, I sat there holding back tears. I refuse to cry in front of Pony I know i have before but I don't want to do that anymore. I'm supposed to be tough because when your tough nothing can hurt you like Dally always said. I guess that's somewhat true but when Johnny died that hurt Dally more than anything. I've never seen him be so hurt and I've known him for years. I talked to Pony and Two-Bit for a while, we talked about how things had been going with Soda he has been saving money so he can hopefully pay child support. As I was leaving Pony askd for a ride to the DX to go see Soda and of course I said yes, Two-Bit tagged along, I guess they could have walked but they didn't want to and plus soc activity is up a lot here lately. So we're all trying to protect each other we don't need to loose anyone else. I drove normal so i would't scare Pony although he has rode with Dally, Two-Bit, and Steve before so my regular driving probably wouldn't have scared him that bad anyway. I decided to get out at the DX just to say hi i guess.

"How could you even show your face here Kayla, your best friends with the bitch trying to get my rights as a father taken away?"

"Actually Soda she isn't trying to take your rights away, she jsut felt that you didn't want anything to do with Josie so she asked that you sign your rights over to Dean because you haven't paid any child support so she took you to court so you would have to either pay it or loose your rights. It was never in the back of her mind to just take your rights as a father away, she was only asking that because she felt that you didn't want anything to do with Josie, I mean after all you did kick her and Josie out."
