Ono Yojiki stood a few dozen meters away, his trusty scythe kept at his side as he wore an evil grin upon his face, clearly not at all fazed by Damakain's death, in fact, he appeared to be pleased with the outcome of his fight against Team Urameshi and Romano Hideshi.

Yusuke and Hideshi, both badly bashed and bruised from their previous fight, returned the white-haired demon's glare with tired eyes. It had been a miracle that Hiei's father had interfered when he did, but seeing as his son lost consciousness soon after the black-haired demon's defeat, there was little hope of making a stand against the equally powerful, scythe-wielding demon.

"I must congratulate the three of you," Yojiki said to Yusuke, Romano and Kurama is his usual, mild-mannered voice, which was well-known to be a misdirection for his opponents by this point "You were able to survive and even kill Damakain, which is something I thought to be impossible to anyone, excluding myself and Lord Karr of course. You shall truly be remembered as the greatest warriors of King Enki's short reign."

"It's over Yojiki!" Hideshi said, taking a defiant stand against the immensely powerful demon. "My demonic energy has been gathering and building since my fight with Ginobly! I've become powerful enough to deal with you on my own, but now that Urameshi and Kurama are here too, you're not only outmatched, you're overpowered as well! Surrender or die!"

It took everything he had to keep Yojiki from laughing out loud at the Spirit Detective's ridiculous claim. "You must be joking... Here before you stands the most intellectual of Lord Karr's Premier Brothers, who has slaughtered countless souls upon the edge of his scythe, and yet you think your minuscule increase in sacred energy will be anywhere near powerful enough to face me? Let alone defeat me? In what reality are you in where this is even a small bit probable?"

"You don't understand don't you Yojiki?" Hideshi said menacingly, his sacred energy billowing around him, growing more powerful with each passing second. "My cause for living is far more powerful than your weak-ass loyalty to some being who is too much of a pussy to take us on himself! I have something to live for! Someone who is worth dying for!" The ground began to shake violently as Hideshi's resolve hardened before the demons' eyes, each one of them surprised and impressed with Hideshi's huge surge in power. "When Damakain had me in that strangle hold, I thought it was all over, that my death was finally at hand... But then I remembered the true reason I've been living on and waging this war against you bastards! And if you think I'm going to just sit back and let you take away that one thing that makes life worth living? The people I care about? My entire world?!? You'd better believe you're damn wrong!" Hideshi's energy burst from his body in an explosion of golden-white light, which was blinding to all who gazed upon it.

"Well then, detective," Yojiki said with a challenging smirk "make me eat my words..."

"You're going to regret the day you pissed me off!" Hideshi shouted, lurching forward towards the scythe-wielding demon with all of his rage.

"Such sloppiness," Yojiki commented as he side-stepped the golden-clad Spirit Detective, dodging his advancement with ease "You'll never hit me like that..."

Frustrated by his inaccuracy, Hideshi turned towards Yojiki and threw a punch directly towards the demon's smug face. His blow never even had a chance to make contact...

Hideshi was stopped short, his tightly clenched fist just a mere inch from Yojiki's face. He suddenly found himself restrained from any sort of advancement, as if something were holding him back from his guttural region. Only when he felt the warm sensation wash over his lower region did he think to look down to a horrific sight.

Yojiki's scythe blade had cut itself into Hideshi's stomach, injuring the Detective to the point of bleeding, while also keeping him a fair distance away.
