The remainder of the night atop the old ski resort was relatively quiet when compared to the chaos which had just preceded it...

Hideshi returned to Koenma and the others, bearing the weight of guilt for failing to save Captain Ootake and Seso. His guilty conscious was only weighed upon more by the fact that Dodin's body was found later that night by Shigari, next to a severed arm from one of the demons he was pursuing. A trail of blood was left behind, but it didn't lead to anywhere conclusive. All they knew from this evidence was that Jax and his demon goons went south after leaving the mission. Apart from that, nothing else could be determined as to the whereabouts of the killers.

Later that evening, Koenma called in Hideshi and Botan once more to his office to discuss what had just transpired earlier that evening...

"So, you're saying you know who this guy is?" Koenma asked Hideshi after he recalled everything he had told him about his part in the mission.

"Yea. Actually, me and Wendy went to the same school as him for... well in my case, until we graduated." Hideshi responded, leaning forward onto the round table in front of himself, taking a few small sips of the tea he had been provided upon his entry into the palace.

"So you two were friends at some point?" the child-sized ruler asked, thinking Hideshi could provide some incredibly useful evidence to the case based on Jax Amashi's past.

"Fortunately, no." Hideshi replied with a sour note in his voice, as if the question Koenma had just posed to him was utterly ridiculous. "Jax was a quiet kid, he really keapt to himself a lot... I remember that his mom never really let him do much with the school, or make any friends for that matter. I guess she was super religious and thought that if he talked too much with the other kids it might mess up his mind, even though the whole damn school was basically a church."

"Hmm... What a shame, I was hoping you might have some clues as to why he's trying to flood the world full of demons..." Koenma sighed disappointingly, sulking back into his chair.

"Well when I talked to him, he said some weird shit... I didn't really pay any attention, but it all seemed pretty gospel..." Hideshi recalled, hoping it may put some ease to the child ruler's mind. "It was super weird though, seeing as he talked about "passing judgement" and other crap like that."

"Hmm... Romano? Do you think that maybe he thinks he's doing this out of some sort of religious motivation? I've seen it happen before on your Human-World television shows. Some crazy people think they are some sort of apostle for God and so they so off and kill some people and really it's all quite messy..." Botan suggested, bringing herself into the conversation.

"Could be, but Jax also said something about his own, perfect world..." Romano said, obsessively sipping at the rim of the tea cup Koenma had given him.

"You think he might have some sort of God complex then?" Koenma asked Hideshi, trying to make sense of it all.

"That could be it to. If his power is manipulation over Makai threads, and if he has found some way of using them to kill all different classes of demons and even humans, then it might have gone to his head. The only thing is... If he believes himself to be so high and mighty, why associate with people just like him in the Human Heirarchy?"

"Hmm... Maybe he never was in league with them in the first place?" Koenma thought, remembering the evidence brought to him before was not totally conclusive.

"No, I'd say that's safe bet to make... His energy was just like Yusuke's, demon in nature with a slight undertone of human spirit power..." Hideshi remembered, "So maybe he thinks so highly of himself for killing all the members of the hierarchy?"
