Chapter 19 Another Brother? Lord Karr's Final Stance

"Oh you've got to be kidding me..." Yusuke uttered as he and Hideshi, both barely able to stand on their own feet anymore, watched helplessly as Neji Yojiki's body stood upright, his head twisting around horrendously, the entire structure of his face being rearranged, just as it had when Ono was defeated.

"...Yusuke... There's something I need you to do..." Hideshi sighed, heavy tones of conviction in his voice, his eyes directly pointed at the cracks ground below. His eyes lost all of their youthful sprite and fire. They were now cold, helpless-looking. He had just lost everything and he knew it. He was prepared to die at that very moment, his own well-being was beyond being questioned now. There was only an empty, hollow feeling left in his heart now. Everything he had wished to come home to now meant nothing in the face of this foe. May it be another brother of Neji and Ono, or Ono himself returning to exact revenge for his eye, it did not matter, for either way, Romano Hideshi knew this would be his undoing.

"Kinda late to be making requests Hideshi!" Yusuke shouted, backing away as the demon's power began to expand outwards towards them, the face of their adversary, formulating itself upon the head of the two Yojiki brother's body.

"Please Yusuke... Go and save yourself... Leave this place, go home. Your wife needs you... Your kid needs you..." Hideshi pleaded with the stubborn hybrid.

"What? How did you know Keiko was pregnant?!?" Yusuke asked in disbelief in spite of the moment.

"...I've seen your eyes before Yusuke... The look you've carried this entire battle. It's not one of someone fighting for himself or some kingdom. You have someone far more precious than that to protect. I could see that same look in my father's eyes before I killed him..."

Yusuke was stunned, too appalled by what Hideshi had just told him to move. He didn't know which was more shocking, whether it was that he had figured out that he had an unborn child on the way, or that he had just confessed to killing his own father.

However, feeling the intensity of this new brother's energy, Yusuke's mind snapped back into reality. "No! I'm not going to leave you here to become demon food! You can feel this guy's energy right?!? He's twice as strong as The other two guys!"

"Which is why we stand no chance... There's no reason for both of us to die here. Go home, live out your life as normally as you can... It'll take Karr a quite a while to conquer Demon World, and so long as the Makai barrier is around, none of his cronies can pass through unless their accomplice let's them. Yusuke, I'm begging you," Hideshi's eyes began to well-up with tears as he left everything up to the very man he had been tasked with hunting down since day one of his job "find whoever it is who is letting them through and take them out. Let this all end here, with me being the final human to have to die in battle... I can buy you the time you need, there is a portal back to human realm on the other side of that gorge, take it back home. Finish what I started..."

"Hideshi..." Yusuke pleaded, his own eyes beginning to tear. He really feels this strongly about saving humanity? He's throwing everything away just so I can escape? Koenma was definitely wrong about you Hideshi... You really are a great guy... No wonder Botan's so into you...

"Go! Hurry! Take your friends with you and leave before he-" Hideshi was cut short by a sensation he had felt before... This new Yojiki Brother was now awake...

Standing before the two Spirit Detectives was the most powerful demon to ever live. The nameless brother's aura was overwhelming, almost suffocating to the two remaining men as they stood in the mighty demon's presence.

But just as quickly as it came on, the white-haired demon's energy dispersed around him, his expression blank as he stared back at the two tired warriors.
