Cyan observed Crow as his eyes wandered the wide hallways. He was bewildered by his surroundings and Cyan giggled at his curiosity.
"A lot different, yes?" Cyan asked.
Crow grinned, "Plain. More so."
Cyan pouted, "Hey, I know it's not as colorful and vibrant as your home but no need to be mean."
Crow patted Cyan's hair, "Hey! I didn't say I didn't like it! It kind of reminds me of my days at the farm! Nothing too fancy, but I feel at peace!"
She wondered for a second if Crow ever experienced a school life and if he'd enjoy it. Cyan enjoyed her time at Midi City but she didn't want to disappoint Crow and the rest of her friends. Her home was a lot less colourful and bright compared to Midi City. However, Cyan new there were a lot of things that she could show her friends. Cyan nodded to herself, agreeing that she would do her best to entertain everyone that agreed to help her on her mission.
Crow laughed, "What are you doing Cyan?"
Cyan jumped, unaware she was being watched, "Oh uh! Nothing! I was just agreeing in my head that I'd get the special ramen today haha! Maybe with extra pepper!"
Crow beamed, "I'll get that one too!"
Crow and Cyan sat together at the empty lunch hall. Cyan's tray echoed through the empty hall as she placed her tray on the table. Crow sat across from her, drooling over the sight of his extra large beef ramen with extra (extra) black pepper. Cyan smiled at the site of Crow's expression.
Crow took his chopsticks, "Itadakimasu!" Crow began to dig in.
Cyan watched, satisfied that Crow was enjoying himself so far and amused at the boy's big appetite despite his small stature. Cyan picked at her soup.
"Crow," Cyan started, "Can I ask you something?"
Crow stopped, mid-way through his soup, "What is it?"
Cyan looked into his eyes, "Do you think we can save Midi City? Do you think this was a good idea?"
Crow set his chopsticks down and looked at his reflection at the surface of his soup broth. He rested his arm on the table and looked up at Cyan.
"I think so," Crow said calmly, "The more experiences we have, the more feelings we can put into our music right? Plus, everyone here has the same goal. We want to save the city that gave us the opportunity to share our music. The city that gives music life, and in turn, the music livens the city. We have to do what we have to do to preserve a city cherished by many people."
Cyan sat quietly, absorbing Crow's words. "Crow..."
Crow blushed, quickly picked up his chopsticks and slurped his ramen noodles.
Cyan smiled, "Thank you Crow. I feel the same. If it weren't for Midi City, I wouldn't be playing music today."
Crow stopped, "What? Really?"
Cyan nodded, "I've always been shy asking others to join their band. I was always afraid I'd be rejected. Chuchu, Retoree and Moa have been so friendly and welcoming. I'm glad I'm part of a band that looks out for me. I can be myself with them." Cyan sipped her soup.
Crow stared intently at Cyan and grinned back at her, "Well... I'm glad that both our bands got to work for the same company. I can't think of any other band I'd rather work alongside with. I liked watching you guys practice and grow. And that one time you guys were trying outfits-"
Crow froze and reached out to grab his cup of water. Panicked, crow tipped the glass and water spilled in Cyan's direction. Water splashed over Cyan's white blouse.
"Oh crap! I'm so sorry I-" Crow froze again. He looked up to see that parts of Cyan's shirt were see-through. Crow's temperature rose and he looked away.
Cyan stood up, "Ah! My shirt!"
"P-Pink..." Crow mumbled to himself.
Cyan turned to crow, "What was that?"
Crow jumped, "N-NOTHING! Here's a cloth!" Crow passed a cloth in Cyan's direction, his hand shaking.
Cyan gasped, "Crow! Your nose is bleeding!"
Cyan took the cloth and wiped Crow's nose, ignoring her damp shirt.
"C-CYAN-" Crow gulped. She was right in front of him and he couldn't look away because Cyan was attending to him.
Crow's mind was going in circles, not knowing what to do. He didn't want to be rude to Cyan yet he didn't want to be caught taking a peek at Cyan's chest. Urgingly, he held Cyan close to him in a close embrace.
"C-Crow?!" Cyan yelped. Now it was both of their temperatures were rising.
Cyan's heart was hammering against her chest, not sure what was happening and what she was feeling. She felt his hard chest against her cheek and his chin brushing on the top of her head. Crow's arms were a lot broader than Cyan anticipated and he was warm to the touch.
"I-I'm sorry! You- You must be cold being covered in ice water! So I'm warming you up?!" Crow explained quickly.
Crow congratulated himself for coming up with a quick excuse.
"M-Mhmm.." Cyan stammered. She took the cloth away from Crow's face, "It stopped."
Crow continued embracing Cyan, "Cyan I.. Can I-"
"NOT FAIR!" A voice screamed past the lunch hall.
Cyan jumped and turned to the voice. Crow's arms loosened but he continued to hold Cyan. It was Shu, pointing his index finger at Crow.
"I want to hold little neko-chan too!!!" Shu inched closer.
Crow's eyebrows furrowed and he let go of Cyan. More furious than embarrassed, Crow turned towards the table to clean up the mess. Cyan looked away from Shu, trying to hide her embarrassment.
Shu looked down and gasped, "Little Neko-chan?! What has this horrible hedgehog done to you?! You're soaked?!"
Shu pulled a handkerchief from his pocket and lightly dabbed Cyan's shirt. At the corner of Crow's eye he could see that Shu was looking at the wrong places, he tightened his grip on the cloth he was using to clean the table.
"Sh-Shu! I can do that on my own!" Cyan protested.
"You've gone through too much trouble already!" Shu explained. Shu wrapped Cyan in his school uniform jacket and led her out of the lunch hallway.
Crow watched the two leave. He sighed and placed his hand over his chest. He could feel his heart still beating rapidly.
Crow mumbled, "... Do I have hypertension or something?!"
