CHAPTER 8
 - The Twist


The next day I woke up beside Adriann again. When I was in the bathroom brushing my teeth and did my morning routine, I remembered how mad Jay got when Terence and Miranda told him he had to go. It was funny to me that, just a week ago, he had to move in, and now he has to move out. Ha-ha.

Today, Jay was packing up all of his stuff to go back to his own home. Yay!! No more of his face.



The whole morning I spent my time in the living room with Adriann and Miranda. Adriann was in the living room because Jay didn't like him anymore, because Adriann got lucky to be in an arranged marriage with me. Miranda was here because, well she's pregnant. Before I knew it, Jay was done and was saying his goodbye's. I was heading upstairs when, "wait, Temperance. Don't I get a goodbye?" Jay had asked.

"Fine." I said and headed right back down so he can leave and never come back. When I got near Jay, Miranda and Terence went into the kitchen and Andrew followed. Adriann just went to the bathroom. So yeah everyone left me alone to say goodbye to Jay.

He pulled me into hug and I said, "bye, jerk. I hope to see you never again." It came out harsher than I though I would say it, but whatever, I can't take it back now.

He held me in his arms for a little longer and he said, "Don't worry. This isn't over yet. You will see me again. Funny thing is that you won't know I'm there. Watch your back." With that, he sent chill down my back, but not the good chills like the one Adriann gives me.

I stood at the front door while Jay took off in the taxi. I was startled when Terence spoke and said, come on Tempie, get dressed, so you can all drop us off at the airport. Our flight is in two and a half hours."

"Okay." I said hiding the horror in my voice. What if Jay tried to hurt me?"

"Are you okay Tempie?" Guess I couldn't hide my horrored voice from him.

"Yeah I'm fine, let me just get dressed and we could go. Don't want your boss to get mad at you. Especially since he was nice enough to let you start work a day later." I said smiling at the fact that his boss was really a nice person.

"Alright, but you know that you can tell me anything, right?" He said.

Yeah of course I can big brother, just like I told you about Jay, and you didn't believe me. I said to myself.

I went to my room and I changed into something professional looking. So it was black dress pants, a white blouse that was sort of see through, and a black vest over it. I also wore my black pumps that my mother bought me when I was like fifteen. I put on some eyeliner and looked at myself in the mirror. Something seemed to be missing from the outfit.i had on. And I knew exactly what I was missing.

My neckalas that my father gave me when I graduated from middle school. It was a baby girl and on the back it had my name and birthdate engraved. When I got my neckalas, Adriann walked into my room and said, "Hey, you ready to go?"

"Yeah, I just need to put on this neckalas." I told him, while having trouble putting on my neckalas.
