There was a reason why everybody was so pleased with me.

I was eager to show Mr. Lewis my talents, but he did not really let me. The clothes he gave me where the most ordinary pieces of clothing I had ever seen, it was like he wanted me to look like a nun. I was not exposed at all.

These must have been the cheapest clothes I had ever worn.

All he did was work. Every day he worked till late at night. Sometimes he worked from home, but that was very rare. I spent most of the time alone.

He left the doors open for me so that I could be tempted to leave, but I did not. I was more clever than that. Colt Lewis was trying to lure me into a trap.

I would not let him.

"Where is your brother?" I asked him one day while we were eating dinner.

"You are not here to ask questions," he responded.

I snapped. "What am I here to do then? You have me here, what do you want me to do?"

"I do not like lying," he began. Colt Lewis was as honest as a tree. He did not talk much and I was confused. What did he really want from me? "So I am going to tell you exactly what I want from you."

Go on, Colt Lewis.

"I want information," Mr. Lewis revealed. Where was he going with is?

"What kind of information?" I pouted. He dismisse my pout. Apparently, he did not like my behaviour.

"I want to know what drives you, Velvet." What drove me where? "Do not pretend to be stupid."

I responded, "I can assure you that I am not stupid, but I do not know what you are talking about."

"You know exactly what I am talking about," he went on and put his fork aside. "It is not all about sex, Velvet."

I hated these types of guys. Mr. Super-Duper-Prude Colt Lewis had pushed a button. I began, "Oh, really? Why did you buy me then?"

"I rented you, there is a difference," Colt Lewis intervened.

"There is no difference in my eyes. For years unlucky girls have been getting rented and bought by people like you. Colt Lewis, you disgust me. You and your entire city." I was fuming. I did not really care how much power this man had. I was going to spill my truth because he had pushed me. "And you are not the only one! There are thousands of cities like this all over the world. Pathetic. You buy us and use our bodies for your pleasures and wants and then you have the decency to say that it is not about sex? My entire existence consists of it, Mr. Colt Lewis."

"Thank you very much. That statement right there, it gives me a motive," he said and removed himself from the table. Colt Lewis left me with an open mouth. I was shocked. He could not know, couldn't he? It was impossible for him to know the things I had done and I would continue to do.

I followed him into his home office.

"What do you mean by that, Colt Lewis?" I asked him. I was tired of the politeness.

"You know exactly what I mean. Did you really think that you would wander into my house and not come clean about your past? I know everything, Velvet. I am just trying to prove it," Colt Lewis uttered. It was like a dagger through my brain. I had really been stupid. I should have left on my first day in a cop's house.

"You do not know shit, Colt Lewis," I hissed back.

He warned me, "Watch your mouth."

Colt Lewis thought that he was scary. Any other girl would have been scared of him. I had killed men like him. They had dropped like flies in front of my feet. His presence would never make me afraid.

Right?

Somehow that look in his eyes when he talked to me had me feeling more than just fear. I felt safe in a weird way.

I had been living in his house for so long and he had not touched me. Colt Lewis only wanted my words.

"What are you planning to do with the information?" I asked him in a quietly unsure voice.

"I will bring it to justice."
