The restaurant was empty. Ry had his people bring us coffee. We sat down in one of the empty booths.
When the coffee arrived, he had the one with the alcohol. "Tell me. Did you try to hit on my brother?"
I nodded. I felt like I could tell Ry anything. However, there was one detail I would always leave out.
They could assume all the things they wanted, but I would never admit it.
"And he never reacted?" I nodded again, sipping on my hot coffee. The coffee was delicious. "That is so Colt. Are you frustrated enough yet?"
"For what?" I asked him, once again pressing my thighs together. I needed to keep my head and my body in a normal condition. No need to get all bothered.
"For me to take you on a sweet ride," he said, putting it mildly. He had to say it. "Excuse my soft tongue, love. There is a lady in here that is willing to poison me if I say the F-word in her presence."
Oh. What lady?
An older woman appeared. At first, I thought it was his mother with the way that she kissed and hugged him.
"That is right, Ryland," she said. My first impression of hers was that she was friendly. Girls like me - orders - put women in two categories, friendly and a bitch. There was no inbetween. "Introduce me to your friend. Do not be rude."
"Ma, that is Velvet. She is my brother's order. I will show her around for a few days," Ry told her. The woman made me stand up and hug her. Damn, her hug was tight.
I noticed that he called her Ma. Her face when Ry said that I was his brother's order made me wonder whether she really was his mother.
"I have to go, Ryland. Take care of the girl. She is not yet fully into you, do not force her into anything!" She looked at me. "If he pulls a number on you, you come straight to me, alright?"
I nodded. It was a strange experience.
The woman had read me. I was still torn. There were too many things happening around me. I did not know whether I could give in to Ry, or not.
I watched the woman leave. Ry took me out of my gaze, "She raised me after our parents died."
Right. Their parents were dead. Shit. Ry had once again answered to my thoughts.
I started believing that our coffee-chit-chat was all there was going to be.
"You want to see my guns?" he asked me as I drank my last sip of coffee. Oh, I am seeing them already.
I observed his body.
"You are funny," he said. Ry stood up and invited me to do the same. Then he led me past the kitchen into a different kind of room. Once again we passed men who were working for him.
They checked me out. One of them asked, "Are you sure, boss?"
"Yeah. My brother says she killed a few men. She does not look it, does she?" Ry gestured at me. "I want her to see everything. Then I can tell my brother to leave her alone."
I started shaking when they put me in handcuffs. Ry tried to calm me down, "Relax, love. I am not interested in killing you."
He unlocked the heavily guarded door and let me in first. It was dark. I could not see a thing. The lights went on after he shut the door behind him.
What I saw made me step back and fall right into Ry's arms. His hands ran up and down my sides, he was still trying to calm me down.
The room was bigger than what my eye could see. They had it all sorted. The guns with the guns, and the knives with the knives. Everything had its place.
It intrigued me. I could just grab one of these things and kill Ry. I had never killed anybody with a real weapon. I always had to be creative about it.
"You really killed them, didn't you?" Ry asked me. The thought that he believed that I killed people should have terrified me. It was my highest-priced secret.
But Ry did not scare me. I felt like we were equals.
"Yeah, I did."
