"Mr. James, I know my place. I am aware of the fact that I am going to never see you again after nine months, but I believe that I still have a responsibility over the child I am going to give you," I said and felt like there was less weight on my shoulders. I did not know how he was going to react, but he was the one to ask for honesty. I only gave him what he asked for.

"What kind of responsibility, Stella?" He was enjoying this. Mr. James saw that I felt weird revealing my thoughts to him, and he kept pushing for more.

Deep inside, I felt thrilled.

"I want this child to grow up in a happy environment. If you two can't work it out, then I do not want to leave that child under your watch," I said. "I am not going to destroy its life. I do not want to give you a child if you are like this."

"Like what?"

"Fighting each other all the time. Absorbed in your work. Focussed on your money. Cold. Without communication," I uttered. "What kind of family do you have, Mr. James?"

I had said too much. I feared that he was going to explode on me.

Instead, he got up from the floor and headed for the door. He took one last glance at me, "If I did not know any better, I would say you insulted me, but like I said earlier on, all I want is honesty. You gave me your piece of mind. If you can convince my son of your opinion, then we can go ahead and become a happy family."

"Who? Me?" I was just a girl from the agency. They basically used my body and then sent me back. Now I am supposed to repair their family?

"I have to leave town tomorrow for two days. You have plenty of time with him. He is going to be around more because I will be gone," he revealed. Mr. James will leave me alone in this house? I did not know how to deal with that. He must have seen my confusion, "Normally, I would have taken you with me. You seem to have gotten accustomed to my presence. But you have things to do with my son. You might be able to inspire Stephen."

Mr. James' absence got to me. I just sat around doing nothing. Earlier, I went to Stephen's room, but there were sounds, more likely m.oans, that disturbed me so I left again.

"Stella?" I jumped up. It was Stephen. He looked tired.

"Mr. James left earlier today. He will be back in two days," I informed him.

"Really? He did not tell me." Stephen looked like he had an epiphany. "Let's go to the doctor's office then. We will do it now, and when he comes back I will act like I spent the money on alcohol."

"Stephen, are you serious?" We were in deep trouble for this.

"Stella, do you, or don't you want to f.uck me?" He had me there.

I shook my head, "No, I do not."

"Then let's go."

I had to dress differently for the doctor's appointment and Stephen was open to help me find the appropriate clothes. Mr. James had provided me with a full closet since I had not brought anything with me from the other side of the fence.

Stephen said that it was best to keep the appointment between the three of us. The doctor, him and me. His father would be infuriated if he found out. Stephen insisted that he would be angry about the money, but I thought he would hate the fact that we lied to him.

"But Stephen..."

"Yes?" He was driving us to the doctor's office in a dark car.

The James family was rich and famous. That was what Mistress Raser had told me. "What about the doctor? He could tell your father, couldn't he?"
