Chapter 15

I sat there for a long time, I watched the sun come up, but I didn't do anything. I just stared at a blank space.

"Maggie? Are you in here? Maggie!" I heard Hunter call out. "Maggs! Thank god!" He said once he found me in the kitchen and came to wrap his arms around me. "It's alright" he kept whispering as I broke down in his arms.

"It's alright",
he stroked my hair.

"It's alright"
he kissed my head.

"It's alright"
he held me close.

"It will never be alright Hunter!" I pulled away. "It will never be alright. My sister is to young to understand, my father is never there, my brother is broken and my mother is dead! Dead! Hunter, she's dead! And I'm stuck in the middle, alone, scared, broken. My world is crumbling to pieces and all you can say it that it's going to be alright? It will never be alright, never... Okay? Never".

He stared at me and tried coming closer but I walked back. He kept coming, I kept going until I hit the wall and couldn't go anywhere. He wrapped his arms around me as I breathed in his scent. "It will be alright. You're not alone, I'm here. It's okay to be scared. And if your broken, I will pick up every last piece of you till you're fixed if it's the last thing I do. Other people might leave, but I'm not going anywhere".

"Come on, get up. Everybody is worried  about you" Hunter held out his hand. When I didn't respond he held my by my waist and swung me over his shoulders. When I still didn't respond he carried my out of the house and plonked my ass on the lawn outside.

We didn't speak, or do anything in fact, that's till my phone rang. "Hey daddy" I put the phone to my ear. "Everybody's worried about you dear, are you alright?" I heard his soothing voice. "I'm alright dad" I softly said, "I'm going to miss her so much dad, so much. I just wish I could talk to her one more time".

"I know baby, I do to. Just to tell her that I still love her and that I'm so sorry for causing her so much pain". He broke down into a sob.

"I love you baby"

"I love you too daddy"
