Chapter Five--
Today was the boys' charity baseball game. They were playing for the Road Dogs and Dani and I were their little 'cheerleaders'. Her and I literally bought mini skirts and cropped shirts that were blue and white. Dani's had Kevin's number on it and mine had Nick's, and they both said Jonas on the back."Woooo!!" Danielle and I cheered in unison as the boys came out. Trevor was actually on the team with them, so this should be interesting. I really hope he didn't tell Nick that I was at the lobby in that hotel a few nights ago. We were now done with the tour and this was the last thing we needed to get done before finally heading home. I was excited to go home, even though it was so fun on tour and traveling with Nick.
"And he gets a home run!" The announcer, yells from the top of the big bleachers. I look at the field and see Nick slide into home base before a guy gets him with the ball. Joe and Kevin cheer him on as well as Dani. I join in, running to him before they start up again. I jump in his arms and wrap my legs around him, feeling my skirt hitch up a little bit. I see Dani walk over to her husband before I look back to Nick.
"Great job baby." I smile planting a kiss on his lips. Then we are all on the big screen. Including Joe who's standing there awkwardly. We all wave and then the screen goes to showing the whole field.
"Only a couple more hours, then we get to fly home." He says, smiling and letting my down.
"Yay! I'm sure Elvis is missing us." Then I think about it.
"Did I say us? I meant me." I smirk and turn to walk over to where Danielle is, by the dugout. I feel Nick staring at me the whole time. Throughout the whole game, I don't take my eyes off of player Number Two.
"By guys. Hopefully we'll see you all soon." Nick says as we are all at the airport in New Jersey. The boys were playing baseball in a small town here and we packed up from the hotel we stayed at the night before and are here now.
"See you bro."
"See you man." Joe and Kevin hug him, and so does Dani.
"Bye Mar." Joe tells me, giving me a long hug. I let go first and he has this weird smirk on his face.
"It was nice seeing you Marni." Danielle says, hugging me tight.
"You too. I had so much fun." I say, hugging her back. Kevin doesn't move and so his wife hits his arm. He gives her a blank look, then remembers. Kevin gives me a quick hug and then we all go our seperate ways. I had my arm linked in Nick's as we boarded our plane back home. This time, Nick has to take the window seat.
"Please no Mar." He pleads as we put our carry on bags in the overhead cabinet.
"You made me go on a roller coaster, and you knew I hated them. Now it's my turn." In the little time we all spent in DisneyWorld, Nick tempted me to go on a roller coaster in Universal Studios. We only got to spend a few hours there, but it was awesome. I said that we needed to make plans to spend more time down there. Nick is still whining when a flight attendant comes over.
"Nicholas. Sit down." I growl through gritted teeth.
"Do we have an issue?" The lady says in a Jersey accent. I turn around and want to slap that fake smile off her face.
"We're fine, thank you." I politely smile. She looks over to Nick and then back to me.
"Well, you two need to sit. We're about to take off." With that, she walks away, swaying her hips back and forth.
"Sit." I say. Nick crosses his arms and sits in the window seat.
"You'll be fine." I soothe his his ear as we start to take off the runway.
"You've flown a million times baby." I say to him, gripping his hand in a comforting manner.
"I know. I still don't like it. Never have Marni." His teeth are gritted and I swear his heart is about to beat out of his chest. He's really scared. I just wrap my arms around him and smile.
"You'll be just fine sweetie. I'll be here the whole time. You need rest, so just sleep." I whisper in his ear, kissing it. He nods and leans his head back on the seat. I grab my iPod and plug in my earbuds to listen to music. I choose to listen to a mix of different pop music and just enjoy the flight. Our flight home was a few hours, but it was straight from New Jersey to Texas. It was dark out when we landed considering it was now 11:30 at night.
"Baby, we're home." I whisper in Nick's ear in an attempt to wake him up. Like I said, he's a heavy sleeper sometimes.
"Hm?" He mumbles, opening his eyes.
"We're home. We're in Dallas honey." I say with a smile creeping on my lips. Everyone starts to file out of the plane once we've fully landed and stopped. I stand up and stretch quickly before getting our carry on bags from the overhead cabinet. Nick groggily follows me. Now I know I'm probably going to end up driving. Surprisingly, I wasn't that tired at all. I was excited to see Elvis, that was for sure.
"I can drive." I tell my boyfriend after we get our bags loaded in the car. He just nods and gets in the passenger seat, falling asleep pretty quickly. I drive through town to the Kennels, admiring all the street and shop lights that illuminate the darkness. When I finally pull up, the Kennel look empty. I shut the car off and sit in it for a few more minutes before getting out and going to get our dog. I walk in the building, the lights flickering. It was actually a pretty nice, high end place, but sometimes the lights were out. And from the outside, it honestly looked really cruddy.
"Carol?" I ask. She pops out of a room, holding an orange cat in her hands.
"Oh, Marni. You must be here for Elvis. How was the traveling?" She comes over by me, petting the cat.
"Good, tiring. Nick is actually sleeping in the car. He slept almost the whole flight home. There were a lot of late nights." I say, running a hand through my hair.
"Well, I'm glad it was fun. I'll go and get Elvis right now." She smiles warmly and goes to a room in the back. A few minutes later, Elvis comes out, Carol has him on his leash. When he sees me he barks and runs over to me.
"Hey boy. Mama missed you." I smile and pet him like a crazy person. He was the happiest dog in the world whenever we picked him up from the Kennel. I grab his leash and wrap it around my wrist, saying goodbye to Carol.
"Thank you again. On our behalf." I tell her.
"It's no problem. He's just an angel."
"We'll probably be back sooner then later." I joke, then make my way out to the car. I get Elvis in the backseat and close the door. When I get in the driver side, Elvis is leaned forward, sniffing Nick as he's still sleeping. I just laugh and pet Elvis' head before starting up the car and heading home.
"Come on boys!" I say as I pull into our driveway. By now, it's close to one in the morning. Nick jolts awake at my loud voice, looking around.
"Morning sleepy head." I say, getting out of the car and going to the trunk.
"What time is it?" Nick's voice is deep from sleep and he gets our suitcases out.
"One AM." I tell him, getting Elvis out of the car and all the rest of our bags and any garbage. I liked to keep the car clean, so every time I got out, I'd always take out any garbage in it whatsoever. We enter our house and Nick rolls our suitcases in our room, Elvis following. I shut the front door and put the keys on the counter before heading upstairs to our room. When I get there, my boyfriend and dog are on the bed, just laying there.
"You're still tired?" I ask him, laying down too.
"Yeah. But I should be much more awake tomorrow. I've got a day off so you and I could do something if you wanted." Nick yawns and Elvis wiggles his way between us. I put an arm around him and kiss his nose.
"Okay, cool. I'm gonna go change first." I get up from the bed and change into sweatpants and a sports bra. I climb under the covers next to Nick, feeling the relief of sleeping my own bed.
